Where to start, where to start... Well, I guess, seeing as this is my first story, I'll start by telling you all a little about myself. I've only recently started playing eve, and for the first month or so, I was content to do the carebear dance. Mine was missions and the never ending cycle of "go somewhere, kill this, come back, get paid a meh amount of cash, repeat". And then one day I stumble on this site, and suddenly my mind starts working. I plan ships, fits and how I would go about being a pirate; because really, you guys sounded like you were having a hell of a lot more fun than I was.

So, after some research, and as a Gallente pilot, I settled on an Incursis as my first pirate ship, using a fit I found on this very site. Everything was ready, all I needed was a target. My home at the moment is a bit of a hub, with a lot of stargates, so I have plenty of choice. I warped around for a while, checking out nearby systems for anyone stupid enough to be mining into a can. And, as always, a perfect target presented itself: an Osprey mining into a can. I check out its pilot, just in case there should be a chance of a really nasty surprise. His data says that hes 3 years old, oh dear this guy might not be the best target I think, but then I realise that there are big gaps in his corp changes and that he's only just joined a new corp a few days ago. Ahah! He's only just come back to the game, perfect. I quickly set my standings to his corp to awful to check whether he's got some bad ass corpies in the next belt. Nothing, he's all alone. Even better.

I warp casually up to his container, jettison my livestock (specifically bought for the purpose) and then steal about 70k of Plagi. He must've just been about the come and haul it away. Anyways, I sit and orbit him closely, waiting for his response. He sits and mines some more, and then he turns and warps away. Oh hoh, this'll be him grabbing his combat ship then. I can feel my heart already hammering in my chest at the prospect of my first fight, and if its vs a combat ship it'll be even better. Soon after, he comes back in a Caracle. Hrm, missiles, if he's fitted with small missiles this might go badly for me, they don't lose their tracking at close range after all. He flashes red and 2 missile slam into my shields, doing an average amount of damage, I sense that this could go well for me. I scram and web him and open up with my T2 Ion blasters, whilst orbiting at about 500m. His shields start to go down, not as quick as I'd like, but I remember that this is a Caldari ship and, further more, I know the Caracle's armour is paper thin. We're on about even damage as both our shields go down about the same time, this is a fun fight I think, it'll be close. His next volley hits my armour and does a pitiful amount of damage as it hits my 200mm plates. His armour, on the other hand, has no buffer and starts to drop quickly; much quicker than mine. I smile as I sense that I have the victory, and sure enough, he pops in a glorious ball of flame that initiates me as a can flipping pirate.

Oddly though, his pod doesn't seem to be going anywhere, so I nab it with my scram, mainly just because I can, and open up a convo. First offering a gf, but then not quite knowing what to do from there. I'd read about ransoming, but at the same time, I was sifting through the loot that his Caracle dropped. It was a pathetic collection of cheap launchers, cheaper ammo, and civvi modules. I raised an eye brow at that one. He didn't seem to be able to afford to fit a pretty cheap cruiser, it wasn't likely he could give me much even if I demanded it. So, being a bit of a softy and also just being happy I didn't get ganked into next week on my first pirate run, I let him go. He didn't reply in the convo the whole time, but immediately he buggered off back to station and that was the end of the encounter.

A fun first outing I must say, although I'd have liked some better loot, I mean, a civvi armour repairer?! >_>
This is my first posted tale on here, so bear with me. I've been ransoming for a while now, but just recently discovered the glory of eve-pirate. I don't usually make kills, I usually just random and let pilots go. There's really no reason for me to rack up a kill and get stuck with some garbage loot when I can pull in at least 5M ISK most of the time.

So, I'm bounding around my usual spots, pipe in hand, not seeing much, when I decide to pop into Uitra. With 150~ players in local, I decide there HAS to be someone worth tearing up. I'm flying my anti-frigate solo Caracal, so I'm hoping for some mining barges or something of the sort.

As soon as my warp closes on the third belt, I see a Stabber and a Moa happily jetcanning around, practically flaunting their delicious ore in my face. I scoot on over, flip it right on up, and discover that I've stolen about 20,000m3 of ore from them! Realizing that they probably won't like that, I take up a decent distance about 5km out, and within 5 seconds, I get a private convo request.
Continue reading "An Ore-Blastin Good Time"

this evening started out like any other. we are at war with another corporation but they havnt been around to fight, so i decided it was a nice time to learn how to probe out ships. i started in otou, my new old stomping ground. its one of my favourites because of the arrangement of belts makes it pretty easy to find people on the directional scanner. so i start probing and after about 20 minutes of that and no positive results, i decided to give up and try my luck on some targets i saw on directional scanner. i dock up and grab my trusty arbitrator all t2 fitted with my array of drones. this may not seem like much to you, but with only 4.5mil sp, i think im doing pretty good to have a -10 sec status mainly from the use of my arby.

i head out to my scan spot to start looking through the belts. i can see them on 360 but cannot seem to find anything on 5. so i decide to sit in a belt and wait. nothing comes. i grow bored and tired and make one last attempt at 5 degree scans and i get a hit, a punisher on planet 6! this is too good to pass up and will be easy for me to pop if i can get a lock on him before he bolts. i warp into to planet 6 area at 0 and viola, there he is and ready to fight.

War, my favorite activity. War is my business, I enjoy my work. My desire to do this work started a very long time ago in Erila. I was in my second private corporation. I joined Apex Elite Security after my own initial corporation proved impractical for one person to run. Most of our operations were those of the mining variety. All of our other work consisted of security work for Caldari Navy. Inoue was home to all of us, it had everything we needed, but not everything we wanted. It was only a matter of time before our members grew restless and began roaming into Erila and Horkkisen.

There was always the burning curiosity for new pilots to explore the low security systems. We didn't know about the prevalence of piracy in low security, we simply knew that there were "bad" people out there, so it came as something of a surprise when one of our members' brutix was being attacked while hunting guristas. Naturally, we were all enraged, but still timid to the thought of engaging another capsuleer, one who probably knew more about what he was doing than we did. I hopped into my brand new, and poorly fitted Moa, Vlad in his caracal, and Drake in his bellicose; we tore space heading over there, just in time to see the our corpmate's pod approaching the gate back to inoue. We went to the belt where it happened, not knowing what we wanted, but definitely finding out what we didn't.

We arrived to see a rupture floating about, it's pilot, Sinickal, wasted no time in showing us what she was there for and proceeded to lock onto Drake and engage with great fervor, the kind only seen by people who really enjoy what they do (I only experienced this later). Drake, like us, had no idea how to fit a ship effectively for any purpose, we all went for the fabled "MacGuyver" fit that so many new pilots choose to go with; his bellicose didn't last long, all the while we were firing everything we had at this pirate, this person of low moral fiber. Next one on the spit was Vlad, he was the first member of our corp to have a cruiser, it's a pity that it had to go without a single kill under it's belt.

I really don't need to put very much detail into the combat because if you're reading this, you can probably imagine more or less what happened. All I need to point out is that at that time, warp core stabilizers had no penalties that would deter even a new pilot like myself from fitting them, and it saved my moa. Saved it so I could warp off, defeated. I felt demoralized, I was a director, we had just recruited a new pilot not more than an hour prior, and we got sent running with our tails between our legs. After the obligatory, "We're going to keep coming back until you're dead" type of conversation that almost always happens when young capsuleers get their first taste of combat was over, we took to decreeing that Erila was off limits for our corp, we even took such a stance as to tell our people that they shouldn't shoot each other because it wasn't good comradery. Eventually, I learned to respect what Sinickal did to us that day; she inspired me to learn more about fighting, that's for certain, but she also made such an impact as to be the first big step to being the pilot I am today. Also, yarr.

Fly Safe kids,
Gun.
I'm a first time writer here on eve-pirate, and while I don't fancy myself a pirate, the rest of EVE probably would. I run a small band of PvPers that isn't really interested in the pirate/anti-pirate politics - instead, we're all just a pack of ADD kids that like to see pretty explosions, indiscriminate of who they belong to. We take a lot of our inspiration from TRAPS and REPO.

This story has a little background to it, so if you don't care and want to skip down a bit, it's marked.
"We're not going to wait for contact with the locator agent", the Fleet Commander(FC) shouted over the Fleet comms link. Our 9 ship squad was poised in close formation less than 2500m away from the Stargate, that leads to a system that a few war target pilots were reported to have been in; however, our scout has confirmed the contrary. "Bandit Actual, Bandit Actual, this is Birds Nest", came over the comms from headquarters(HQ), "Birds Nest this is Bandit Actual send it", the FC responded. The comms officer at HQ replied, "Bandit Actual we have confirmed 6 reds(enemy pilots) in system, I say again we have confirmed there are 6 reds in system, how copy", "Solid copy Birds Nest, 6 reds in system" barked the FC. "Bandit Actual, what is your current position", the comms officer at HQ asked, "we're currently 10 jumps out from base, Birds Nest", replied the FC. "Roger that Bandit Actual, return to Base and engage red pilots on contact, how copy", asked the comms officer, "Solid copy Birds Nest, Bandit Actual return to Base, Bandit Actual out".

The FC addressed the fleet on Fleet comms and ordered everyone to set destination to Base and align to the next Stargate. The nine-ship squad turned in unison toward the Stargate and headed in its direction. The search for the war targets was put on hold as we all began downloading the reports of what ships the red pilots are in, and where in the system they were last spotted. At the 4 jumps out mark the FC got word from HQ that the red pilots have moved out of the system. "Change of plans gents, looks like HQ wants a blockade at the empire gate(a Stargate in the HQ system that links high-sec to low-sec, our base being on the low-sec side), once in system get re-fitted or change ships if needed, for a blockade setup and form up at the empire gate in 10 mins, how copy", the FC barked over Fleet comms, all of the squad members responded in order confirming their acknowledgment, "Bandit Actual, this is Bandit Five, solid copy", was my response.

When we were 1 jump out from base I ordered my comms officer to make contact with the Dock Officer at HQ. "Sir I have the Dock Officer on link", my Comms Officer informed me, "good, tell him to prep the Caracal Navy Issue(A-1) for a blockade with max damage output", I ordered. After jumping into the HQ system the Intel Officer reported, "zero reds in system sir". "Align to dock, warp when ready", I ordered as my Blackbird(E-4) cruiser came out of jump cloak and aligned to the HQ station. While the ship was moving through the warp corridor towards the HQ, I gave the crew their disembark and re-embark orders and then checked the last reports from HQ on the activities in local the past thirty minutes. The reports were reasonably mild, a few rats got splashed and a dullwatt(idiot) miner got popped in an ice field. This dullwatt somehow did enough research to find an ice field one jump out of high sec, but doesn't do the extra clicks to find out that it is home to a few pirate corps.........dullwatt.

At the HQ the ship change went smoothly, the crew were moving into their stations aboard the A-1 quickly and the officers were reporting 100% systems and stations readiness. "Sir we are ready to undock" the Bridge Officer turned and said to me, "Undock and align to the empire gate", I ordered. Outside the HQ station my corp-mates were testing their resistances and locking speeds on each other’s ships, once assured they can tank damage as long as they plan to, they warped off toward the gate to get into position. When the A-1 came out of warp at the empire gate, the trap was already set by my fellow corp mates and a few blue(friendly pilots of another corp) pilots in BS's, BC's, and Tech 2 cruisers.

"Gate Fire, Gate Fire", exploded over the Fleet comms link, "Ready the launchers", I ordered, "Launchers ready" the Missile Chief barked. Then the overview lit up when the unknown ship came out of jump cloak, "Its a Vagabond" my Intel Officer informed me, "Not blue shoot it, get webs on it fast", the FC shouted over Fleet comms. The sentry guns came alive blasting into my corp-mates who were quick enough to lock and fire first. As soon as my ship's sensors gained lock the missile launchers opened up with a thunderous roar and a bright glow.

The infamous blue hue from a corp mates weber wrapped around the Vagabond as my heavy missiles closed in on it with screaming velocity. The BS's already nullified the Vagabond's shields so my volley of heavy missiles smashed directly into the Vagabond's armor releasing an incredible amount of kinetic energy upon impact. The other ships unleashed a portion of their ordinance payloads into the Vagabond, which commenced its destruction. After the fantastic light display from the large amounts of energy released when the Vagabond erupted disappeared, the dull metallic glare of a pod capsule could be seen. The pilot tried to maneuver her lone pod to align to any object in which she could warp off to relative safety, only to be locked and popped as well. I'd bet that pilot wishes she had a change of plans before she jumped into this system.
Ok, since it’s downtime and I have nothing to do, I decided to continue my antipirate biography. After my first story, nothing really entertaining has happened, or maybe it’s because I have more experience now and I don’t have those emotions already :(, but I don’t remember my fights anymore, I have to look in the killboard to see them, I remember more my losses, I don’t know why though. I still fly thoraxes and vexors btw, but my first myrmidon is on the way. So I remember a lost a thorax to a dominix, he just killed all my cap and I couldn’t do anything, just sat there and waited to pop, this is a horrible feeling. I’ve got killed by 2 crows too, it took them a long time, but they did it, and my backup arrived just as I got poped, and my warrior 2’s only took 60% of 1 of the crow’s shields.
