freaky
Going old school with a 80's retro-flashback a la Go-Go's.
Wow, it's been forever and a day since I last wrote a story. I just got so wrapped up playing the game, I couldn't drag myself away long enough to pen another tale. Now I think I am ready.
This one will be a long one and probably broken up into two parts. Just a little info on what we've been doing over the last 6 months or so. We're still decing corps, alliances, griefing people and getting smack-talked out of the galaxy by lots of players. No surprise there, right?
I will post some of the funnier things I've ran into the last few months. Anti-pirates who smack talk, then complain and give every excuse in the book as to why they lose a fight. Anti-pirates who get caught trying to pull off login traps then deny it. Of course, don't forget all the crazy smacktalkers out there. There is no end to their litany of whining and excuses.
I always feel like my stories are repetitive. Yet I get a fair amount of fan mail in game with people saying how much they enjoyed them and such. I was debating if I should write more or not. As I said, how many times can you tell a similar stories with only the names changing? Then I thought about it a bit and realized, all of Eve is repetitive to some degree. You grind ISK, you fight, you mine, you mission, you chat, you kill, and you die. You have a pattern of sorts. You might even read the forums. How many posts have you seen titled, "Best Raven setup?", "Best Amarr BS for PvP?" and "Macroer Solution Ideas"? You still click and read them don't you? You still laugh at things even though you've seen it a hundred times before, right?
In the next two stories, I will take you through high sec to low sec and see what we find out there. Lots of smack talkers, lots of crybabies, and lots of fun. We held our own against long time pvp'ers and even took it to Eve University for a month. 2 weeks of that all on our own. We did pretty darn good all things considered.
It's the same reason I still play Eve. I love to hear people complain. I love to get their threats. I love to hear them try to rationalize their actions while pointing out TRAP's actions are unjustified and dishonorable. I love getting emails from people complaining about my corpmates killing them or stealing their ore. I love hearing my guys get excited about decing someone or scoring a kill and them posting the smack that follows. Call me crazy, call me a loser I guess. I like it. It's what keeps me playing.
I mean, when you log in to see stuff like this, it would keep you playing too!

Oh and I also will be putting in a story or two about my alts griefing their way through Eve. You can have so much fun with alts!
We will also deal with our fight against Eve University as well as our fun we had joining Privateers for a bit. I'll also touch on the completely lame tactic Eve Uni pulled to escape the shit they brought down upon themselves.
So get comfortable and here we go!

"Wooooooo! I love that shit!" There was nothing like the adrenaline rush of jumping through unstable space. No gates. No regulations. No idea if this time is it. Pure blindness and hopes that you don't warp into the center of a star.
I punched the warp drive into action and my Claw lurched forward once again. It was all manual on this side. Stupid cosmic anomalies always screwed up the NAV systems so a series of short hops were the only way to go. Quite the pain in the ass, but quite a secured system as well. Nobody would be able to navigate such a place without months of extensive research and resources at their disposal.
Communications weren't even an option until you get within earshot. Another 'precautionary' measure I'd assume.
My last warp was fairly long. Always was. To the point of making your brain think it's too long. Just when you think something has gone wrong...
"Finally." My comms break the silence. It was him. Still that calm and collective voice. Never rattled. Still amazes me how he does it.
"Yeah yeah. Can't say that it was an enjoyable trip, but here I am none-the-less."
"Fair enough. Same bay. Make it snappy. We have a fair bit to discuss before things start to happen."
"Happen? What's happening?" Silence... he wasn't going to indulge me over the comms and I knew it. But I still liked asking just to annoy him anyway.
"Make it quick will you?"
"Yup. I'm on it." I swung around the small asteroid belt and made straight for the hidden base.
"Hey hotshot, you wanna slow it down a bit before you sink the entire east wing?" The comms burst alive again. It was Harry. Always good to hear Harry.
"Harry-Monster! Still around are ya?" He hated that name. Almost as much as he hated my heated approaches. Timid. He'd never last.
"Can the shit. You wreck, and I'll not wash your smudge off the deck for a month just as a reminder to all the others."
"Ahh.. Hairy-Monster. Angry as ever. Right then.. Incoming!" I punched straight in and dropped to the deck as always. It's always a delight to see people scampering away when I come in this hot. Light as a feather. Perfect as always.
"Touchdown. Have the guys start unloading the hold will ya Hairy-Monster?" I chuckled as I switched off the comms and dropped the cargo-bay doors. The crew was already approaching with their normal eagerness.
"Full one boys. And don't be too hasty eh? Don't want any fresh marks on my baby."
The crew stood a moment and surveyed the ship. She'd obviously seen quite a bit of action in her day. It was no secret that Concord would probably give their right nut to catch this one. The ship alone had been involved in more pirate activities than could be counted. The scars on her hull were wounds of survival and pride. Notches in her belt.
I made my way through the corridors to the main lobby. Might as well have a drink before getting into it with him again.
"Schmee!"

I arrive in a decently populated low sec system in my typical blasterax (gotta love it) and immediatly check local-- a few promising targets
After warping into a planet with several roid belts around it, I scan and BINGO I see xxxx's rifter on scan! Now I spend several minutes going through belt after belt until I finally stumble upon my victim's belt, but he's over 50 km away-- I'll never be able to get to him in time... but then I noticed that he must've been ratting, cause he's heading for a wreck equally far away. I bookmark the wreck warp to the nearest planet, warp back and arm my warp scrambler. I exit warp, YES hes still heading for the can, and is well withing range, I immediatly start the lock, panickly close the 'do you want to grief today' dialog and watch as the seconds tick by.... tick tick... scram!!! Then I just put on my web and let my pets out to play, after a few secs, I am treated to a nice explosion, but his pod gets away...
Well, this certainly wasn't a fair fight, a cruiser vs a rifter, but the real work was in finding my first victim =D. I picked up a few thousand loot and am now typing this up as I wait for my first GCC to tick off.

The comms crackled to life...
"Standby for authentication."
"Roger that. Standing by."
He sat back and looked around, taking it all in. There were squads flying everywhere. Something was up, and something big. The old man didn't go out of his way like this for any amount of pomp.
"Authentication verified. Welcome Captain Rhicker. The Commander is expecting you. He wishes you to report immediately after docking."
"Roger that. Bay?"
"Bay #9 sir. You may proceed."
"Thank you." He flicked off the comms and drifted towards the hangar.
Walking through the corridors, he couldn't help but notice the atmosphere. Everyone was tense... tight-lipped. And there was no shortage of strange stares as he navigated his way through the familiar walkways. The occasional greeting from a passing clerk were the only noises piercing the silence. As he rounded the last corner and approached the commander's office, the security detail sharply saluted awaiting his acknowledgment. He returned the gesture, and glided past them.
He didn't knock. He never did. He simply pushed the door open and walked in.
Across the room sat the commander and a horde of other officers. The low muttle of voices trailed off as he entered and stared across the room.
The commander looked up, and smiled.

And so I awoke after a long nights slumber in my pod. Not having seen action for over a good month I was itching for a fight. The last thing i fought was a Megathron in my Brutix. What a one sided fight that was. After a quick diagnostics check my pod was in working order. All i had to do now is wait for my twin to arrive in my Griffin. I was rallying the troops taking them out on the hunt. Both of them have never tasted the adrenaline rush from killing an unsuspecting victim before. i sat impatiently in Oisio awaiting my allies and twin. Wolf was the first to arrive eager for battle in his Merlin. Zullo came shortly after snoozing away in his Kestral, the words "Autopilot disabled, Destination reached," jolting him awake. Last to arrive was my twin carrying my Griffin. So with his arrival we set of to the system over. Rendevous at the center station and thats where i got back into a ship. The feel of the metal around me felt good once again, Another quick diagnostics and checking what i had fit revealed all was green. While I was checking my twin arrived in system in his Heron and cloaked in a safe spot.

sigh
"Oh well, gotta learn somehow" I keep telling myself.
The system has been dead most of the night and I'm about to set my nav to the station and call it when I see a blip appear on my scanner. It's one I remember seeing earlier but was too busy tweaking my targetting computer to track it down. I do a quick scan and don't see any 'buddies' hiding in the system so I decide to go take a look.
"Hmmm, a Merlin."
I track him from cluster to cluster, looks like he's ratting.
My hands are shaking from the adrenaline rush. This is my first try at this with no corp backup.
I punch in the coordinates for the cluster's planet and scan each belt.
"Got him!"
He's sitting in a belt face to face with one of the local rats...I'm not sure he even saw me warp in behind him. I quickly throw the nose of my ship toward him and punch the MWD on full. Gotta close this distance fast.
My targetting computer screams as positive lock is established and I scramble his computer.
"No where to run now my friend"
I feel the slight shudder of my ship as my weapons toss their deadly payload toward him. Explosions all around him as his shields and armor melt away. It all happens much faster than I expected as the void of space explodes in a brilliant light in front of me. I lock down the pod and send the pilot on a quick trip back to the cloning facility.
Quickly securing the leftovers from the wreck, I zip off to a safespot to wait out the timer...those station guns are cruel mistresses.
I constantly watch my scanner for 'friends' to jump in and start hunting me. My heartrate finally slowing down I realize in my haste I had forgotten to turn on my defenses! 'Good thing he went down quick or I would've looked REALLY stupid' I think to myself.
A comm flickers from my CEO:
"Congrats"
I smile to myself, "So this is it...this is what I've been searching for..."
I hear my warp drives powering up as I turn toward home...
"Yarrr"

Single Target in-bound. I had dropped out of warp less than fifteen seconds ago and already a target! Rifter class frigate. Thought spans in all directions, as my ship fires all engines, leans into a tight orbit, slips into partial warp with the Micro Warp Drive, and the concentration shifts to locking the target. All modules stand ready as my sensors pinpoint their target. I can feel my mouth water, I have to force I swallow.
Lock. A brief moment everything dims as all modules light off. Warp Scrambler, Statis Webifier, and Four Nosferatu modules. Almost as quickly, energy surges back in to the capacitors, bleeding the target dry.
The Drones, already armed, spill from their hiding place, blazing towards the target. Their first combined volley tears away the Rifter shields. No big accomplishment there, but when the second and third sear and char their way through the Rifter’s armor and into his hull I giggle. I command a ceasefire to the drones.
I hail my target. Two Hundred Thousand ISK. Short and sweet. I'm nervous at this point, I'd rather not become someone else's kill. This is taking too long. I start counting off over comms.
Five.
Four.
Three.
Two.
... A reply. "1 second"
One Decimal Five.
One and One Third.
One Decimal One.
Another message, begging "I'm a new pilot"
Decimal Nine.
Decimal Five.
Zero.
The drones eagerly jump to life. Their first volley ignore what little shield recharge had occurred in the interval. Pieces of the Rifter go spewing in all direction as that one lucky round ruptures the Fusion Core.
The Escape Pod flies past my Thorax, already initiated into Warp. That's fine. There will be others.
I hit Warp again; I spent too long in that belt. Next time I'll know not to wait so long. After a few belts my mind wanders back to the plasma cloud burning freely from my last target. What beauty is to be found in destruction!
Proximity alert! My warp drive had already aligned to the next belt. Scanners already cleared their cache. What was that?
I stop in this belt and fire up the MWD. I want some distance between me and the opponent. Local comms start to chatter. I'm being hunted! The thrill sparks again. A whole new rush, not of the kill, but of the chase.
I let my eagerness gets the best of me. I allow my position to slip over comms, and within seconds a Rupture class cruiser warps in. With over 243km between us, I realize that I am still in control of this fight. Just then, some Angel Militia Pirate's warp in to investigate. My opponent quickly dispatches them. In fact, so quick that my surprise attack doesn't succeed. I couldn't align that fast.
The same dance begins. Lock. All systems initiate. Drones released. I hear the larger Auto Cannons of my opponent penetrating my shielding, tearing into my armor. Enemy Drones sending their Lasers into my hull, separating steel from structure. I increase orbit and try firing some Smart Bombs that I had fitted to shake the drones, open distance to prevent Auto Cannon damage, but it was too late. Modules and main systems alike were shutting down. Damage controls had failed and most of the ship had de-pressurized. Now I watch from my escape Pod as my Fusion Core erupts. I chuckle, as the odd tingle the Pod has in its warp shudders through me, and I make a clean getaway back home.
Once at a safe distance I pull my attacker up on comms. I thank him, now I know what to be cautious for, I have learned. One more lesson, one more step towards my destiny.
I return to station and browse the markets for my next combat ship. I run a few simulations for Capacitor Efficiency, Shield and Armor Durability, and Weapon Damage Outputs.
But before I have a chance to make any purchases, other pilots from my corporation send me a fleet invite. We have a war target trying to make his way towards Rens.
I ponder a moment. Haste requires a ship already fitted, in hangar, and ready to fly. I put out the alert, scramble my Jaguar for immediate departure!
The Hunt Is On!

Can flipping, ransoming and general fun over the last month or so
Posted by mothy in
Sunday, July 20. 2008
I started off the month still running around mainly in frigates, as my still lowly skills meant I didn't dare use anything bigger than a cruiser. However, I still got more than a fair share of fun. First off was a lowly iteron caught by can flipping, but it landed me with my very first ransom
In one incident, I caught out someone who was collecting ore from a can in an iteron. I ransomed him for 700k, and the fee was paid to my wallet. True to my word as always, I left him leave and thought that was the end of it. However I always stick to my can for a while afterwards, which reaped its reward this time. He came back in a pvp fitted incursus, and we had a fun one on one frigate fight. However, he hadn't quite got the hand of frigate pvp and I beat him with ease, as I sent him home in a pod while only losing 2% of my shields.
While the fight was on, a corp mate of his jumped into the belt with a myrmidon. I knew he couldn't attack, but that didn't stop it making me rather nervous. Then, the same guy I'd already beaten off in the incursus decided to come back in his iteron again! I destroyed it and he flew off back to station again. He then returned again in a shuttle, and as I locked and scrammed him, another corp mate joined in in an assault ship. Bad move. CONCORD did the job for me, and he was soon joining his friend in a pod. Not a bad killing session all told.
Inspired by these victories, I went on to try out a fully droned-up retriever. It was a close fight, too close for my comfort, but in the end I had bagged myself another killmail and some nice loot.

The smell of death...

War
Friday, July 18. 2008
Me, vo1d, steve and spec are sitting 120km away from the M Corp blob of abaaddons. Apoc’s and another 10-15 assorted BC’s, cruisers and frigs. I am in my vaga and I’m annoyed as I had engaged a harbinger and got him down to 30% structure when the blob warped in and got a bit too close, those apoc’s were packing plenty of heavy neuts. Death to my vagabond. Yet, still I knew I could outsmart these rabid pack of corp drones. There was death in the air, and it would belong to me.
My scanners are going crazy trying to filter out the ships and designate easy targets. I get a return that sticks out from the crowd, it’s their CEO and he is outside in his retriever. Like any other self respecting corp. podding the CEO of an enemy corp is very much top of the pile. The honour and the glory are too great to ignore! I had a target, it was time to dance.
I engaged the MWD and decided to aim It straight through the heart of the blob, it was very risky but I knew it was the only to draw them out. I hit 6km/s and my vagabond tore through space, my computer warned me of ships aquiring lock but I didn’t care!! I glanced the shield of a myrmidon and shot off at a tangent, webifiers desperate to slow me down, but it was too late my momentum was far superior. My console lit up as an enemy heavy neutralizer destabilised my capacitor forcing the ship computer to vent the stored up energy. My overview registered tackle class ships vectoring in on my position, I was in trouble…
‘Fools’ I snigger.
The vagabonds advanced weapon system:
-Can fire at great ranges and do incredible damage.
-Can track frigates that get to cocky
And importantly...
-Can fire with zero capacitor.
I pick off several tacklers trying to engage me and just manage to keep the cruisers out of range. I’m winning, they are doing exactly what I want and I’m pulling them off the station and away from their CEO. I triangulate the position of the retriever and the battleship closest to him. I see a window of opportunity and pounce.
‘Warp drive engaging’

One Rainy Night...
Posted by Cold in
Piracy
Friday, July 18. 2008
I wasn't on much lately, even though we are involved in 2 wars. The people wardec'd us and still they don't show up, and if they do it's almost always an interceptor or recons that sit 150k out and sensor dampen but do no shooting. This coupled with the fact that I just purchased a new motorcycle and have been riding it non-stop isn't conducive to my being on Eve.
So here I was, sitting in the station with only 2 other corp. members... fun times as everyone was afk. TeamSpeak added some help to the situation and I grabbed the two corp. mates in voice asking what was going on. Of course, as always, nothing was happening, there was 1 war target on but he was 20 jumps away - not chasing someone 20 jumps to have them sit in a station. I figured what the hell, I'll undock and amuse myself.
I am most certainly not a pirate, but I do like to PVP - having said that, flipping cans contrary to what most miners think is very profitable if not fun. I could use a new BC, I only had 2 and both were already battle scarred. I went in search of some full cans of omber to flip and manufacture a new BC, one that I wouldn't mind playing around with a little more dangerously. I set my sights for a .6 system and did a quick scan... 2 cans, that's it. I scan them down and find them to be in the ice belt - of course - and attributed it to macros. But what the hell, I'm already bored maybe something will come out of it (after all, it was raining and I didn't feel like getting soaked on a joy ride).
As I came out of warp in my somewhat new looking vengeance, I noticed that both cans belonged to nicely sized mining corps... and one of the corps had some friends in local... this could get interesting. I call for one corp. mate to get in a blackbird and sit at the warp in spot to the ice field. He was more of a distraction that really a player in this setup - he could jam, but was really meant to be the main bait. I go over and flip the first can, my heart starts beating faster. Slowly my pulse climbs and the first can is flipped, it's not omber but ice sells for a decent price so add 4 more pieces to my wallet.
I slowly flew over to the over can and looked in, 8 more pieces, yay! That's an easy mil for 3 minutes worth of work, not too bad. Aurora kept telling me that I had to wait, an additional 25 seconds until I was able to jet another can... why does it always seem to last forever? 20 seconds later, a nighthawk warps in right on top of me... damn not enough time to flip it and get out in one piece... A nighthawk is a scary ship, it doesn't matter how long you have been playing - they have one of the best tanks in the game. Obviously a measly assault frig isn't going to be doing any hardcore fighting against a command ship... but a battleship and a battle cruiser would! A light bulb went off in my head and I quickly formulated a plan.
I started speaking over comms and laid down what was to happen. A fleet was started and people were put into their respected positions - having 8% more armor always helps, especially in this situation. The nighthawk pilot was chatting up local, I paid no mind to it - I don't smack, I fight. Rather than quibble over threats to each other, we both remained civil and I started the plan in motion. The nighthawk pilot flipped the can back - this would turn out to be a most unwise decision. I quickly hopped back to the station and switched to my Harbinger - she might not be the best looking ship, but she does the job! Knowing that there was a very high chance that I would lose my ship I double checked the insurance and made sure that if I did lose it, at least I'll get something for my troubles.
I let loose over comms ordering everyone to take their position. The blackbird still sitting in the ice field, waiting. The other corp. member I had get into his Tempest - it's not everyday that an Amarr pilot and a Minmatar pilot work together, especially since the faction wars, but today was one of those occasions. The Tempest, fitted with autocannons and a single remote repper would soon turn out to be the best thing I could ever ask for.
With some warp dancing going on, I get the nighthawk pilot where I want him - he notices the blackbird is there as well, and doesn't think twice about engaging but does make it known that it is 2v1. Yes, he didn't spot that I had a 3rd friend in local - this plan just might work after all! The blackbird pilot's job was to make the nighthawk pilot feel easy about killing me... it worked. As the nighthawk comes out of warp, I target, scram, web, and start the circle of death dance around him at 6k. Drones away! I sent my Hammerhead II's after him, hoping that they would have more of an impact than just my lasers. This wasn't the first time I had a run in with a command ship, but this was nor ordinary pilot either. Having become a pod pilot in 2003, he was obviously one of the first on the scene to New Eden and knew much more than I about the way these things played out. In the slow dance of death my laser fire and his missiles collided in what would look to be fireworks of the gods. He quickly chewed through my shields in 2 volleys - this couldn't be an ordinary fitted nighthawk, he was packing quite a punch for missiles, even if they were faction missiles. I started my armor repper late as I seriously misjudged the amount of damage pouring out of the nighthawk; he was tearing me to bits! I signaled for the blackbird to do a quick jam, but unfortunately aggro ran out and much to my surprise (and the surprise of the BB pilot, as well as his overview) concord came and quickly dispatched of him.
With my jammer gone, I could do nothing to keep myself repped against the nighthawk's barrage of missiles. I watched helplessly as my armor was blasted with ungodly force from my hull, exposing various parts of my ship. Down to 50% armor and I haven't even made it 30% through his shields; this isn't going the way I planned at all! I quickly called for the tempest to come in and remote rep me, hoping that the medium remote repper he had would stem the flow of my waning armor. It was but a stopgap measure at best. I was still losing armor, down to 35% and dropping... this isn't good... I'm going down! 30%, 25%, 20%... I continued to bleed away armor and thought all hope was lost - I was only 50% into his shields and wasn't making a single dent more. He had a well rounded shield tank for sure, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't break. When I hit 18% armor, the Tempest pilot called for me to warp out... Yes, why didn't I warp out?! I quickly checked my overview for any signs of EWAR and sure enough - having all of his mids devoted to his tank, he didn't have a scram on me! I thought I might just be saved - I quickly aligned and warped out, leaving my drones behind... a small loss compared to a T2 fitted ship.
About the time I came out of warp yelling from the Tempest pilot flew over the comms - the nighthawk was attacking the temptest! Could this be true? I gave my repper some time to catch back up to 50% armor and with my cap injector running at full capacity I warped back into the fray. I quickly came out of warp and targeted the nighthawk. With the sig radius of a small moon, it didn't take long before my lasers were back on him and this time, making their way through his shields with the help of the autocannons from the Tempest. I re-gained control of my drones and added them to the fight once more - always eager to do their commanders will.
The nighthawk quickly switched targets back to me, still only being half in armor, I was easy prey. I got within the area of the Tempest to receive some remote love from him and quickly deciding to overload my own medium repper I committed myself to the fight until someone lost a ship. I was once again bleeding armor too quickly and with his shields at 20% I didn't think I'd make it. Heat started to build up in my modules and the damage was being done to them. I couldn't keep it overloaded for too much longer, possibly another 30 seconds until my armor hardeners would seize up and break to the heat - it was a dangerous game to play. I decided enough was enough - it was now or never. If I'm going to lose the ship, I'm going down in a blaze of glory! I did a quick check of my cap - 5% left, not enough to keep a web and scram plus lasers and reppers going, I had to inject cap faster! I overloaded the injector and prayed for my lasers to not turn off... I was down to 35% armor. It still wasn't enough; the nighthawk was hovering around 5% shields - just a sliver of grey stood between me and the kill that I no longer deserved. I made a split decision to overload the high rack - all 7 lasers. They wouldn't last too long, maybe 50 seconds, but hopefully it would be enough to blast through the last little bit of shields.
The blackbird pilot communicated back to us that he had reinforcements on the way - a maelstrom and a yet unidentified ship entering local of a nearby star system. I had to hurry, there was no time for fun and games now - it was a race against the clock. Would his backup arrive in time to blow the Tempest and I into small pieces of space debris, or could we possibly take the nighthawk down and make a clean getaway?
Time seemed to slow to a crawl, every seconds seemed like minutes. My cap was still hovering around 8% and heat damage was prevalent among my hardeners as well as near the dangerous level in my lasers. Finally, a chunk of armor was fused to the hull as my lasers cut into his ship, completely eating through his shields! Time was still dragging, getting worried about his backup, I shouted over the comms to put every last bit of damage you have to him. With the nighthawk's tank broken and autocannons and lasers chewing through his armor, the feel over victory was sweeping over me... just a few more seconds. I checked my modules once more, stopping the overload of my lasers for fear that with almost 90% damage, they may break. With modules about to break, he entered structure as I was sitting at 15% armor.
In a single volley from both the Tempest and myself, we popped the nighthawk - the ordeal was over. With my hands shaking from the encounter I quickly went over to the wreck to take as much as I could and still get out in time. News came that his friends were just coming out of warp at the stargate to the system.
When I opened the wreck I was given one of the most beautiful sights ever - the fruits of the labor and risks... Inside I found 2x Dread Guristas Balistic Control Units, 4x Dread Guristas Heavy Missile Launchers and a T2 PDS. I quickly warped away to a station to repair the damage to my modules as well as to my armor. I too this time to look at the kill details - lost to the void was a Pith A-Type EM Hardener, more Dread Heavy Launchers, and some T2 shield extenders. The rush of adrenaline was complete and I now needed to take a few moments and let it all soak in.... I took a deep breath and let it out slowly... this was the best rainy day on Eve I've had!
Still in local, the nighthawk pilot and I, along with the Tempest pilot gave each other gf's, and I told the nighthawk pilot that he had indeed kicked my ass. There was no getting around it, I would have been dead 3 times over if it wasn't for the remote repping help as well as damage of the Tempest pilot. I felt like a sham, admonishing myself for having to warp out once and then come back into the fight - running away, turning my back... but in the end it was the best decision for me. When it was all said and done, the nighthawk pilot lost a total of 1,155,000,000.00, that's almost 1.2 billion isk - and it was worth every isk of it, tanking a BS and a BC for what felt like an eternity but was closer to 4 minutes.

Old Dog still learning New Tricks

I did meet up with a startup pirate corp, and went so far, far away to a system called "Jan" The galaxy was a lot bigger than I had imagined. Here I found out two things. One: T2 fittings and ships beat T1. And Two: I had no way to pay for or fly such things.
So my course was this- I make a fortune and pay for these things, and train constantly as hard as I could until I was the best! I invested in Learning Skills so I could train harder and faster than I supposed any other pilot could, and researched fitting schemes and money making ventures....
... I woke up. A year and a half later, there were foreign objects in the POD fluid, and I’m still aching from detox. I don't know where I am, no familiar stars are in view. I had been piloting the same ship class I had fantasized about, only it's scatted remains were in orbit with me around an unfamiliar moon. I rebooted my Navigation system and found that I was 44 jumps outside of any CONCORD presence. What I had been doing out here was still baffling me. I checked my comm systems, most of the data there was either encrypted or corrupted. A few sparse messages informed me that I had joined up with an alliance and then had been removed. My assets had been removed from my hangar and I was wanted. Infamy it seemed was not something I enjoyed. I'm not sure how I had escaped the same wrath the debris of my once proud ship had endured. That thought alone got my heart racing. Panic sobered me the rest of the way up and I stressed my ship systems in getting "home". I few close calls but thankfully my brain still knew how to fly this thing better than I ever remembered. I had dozens of "Books" downloaded that I cannot remember fully to this day, but I always seem to come up with the answer.
Lost and confused, I was accepted into a corporation to help with their industry concern. Oddly, I had also been trained in that too, although it bores me to no end.
Another year has passed. I have enjoyed the company of numerous pilots and been hired into a few corporations since. I finally have been accepted back into society and even get jobs from an agent or two from Brutor Tribe. I'm back in my homeland and it feels great...
...Until Yesterday.
The local channel fires up. A Pilot was upset that no one would "take his can" Producing such a challenge was not too smart, someone might take him up on it. I jump into my trusty Rifter. I open his can. Flagged for combat, his friends uncloak and I barely get my pod back into station. He laughs and informs me that if he had lost to a Rifter he would have quit flying.
Anger! Just like in those first long months. I have not felt this way in years. Only today, I have a generous account, the skill to fly ships of any race, and well, and the support of numerous other pilots.
I place a "Buy Order" on the markets for a Thorax. They have a deadly potential, and I have been researching other ships for more capabilities...
I will have my fleet, I will have my revenge. 3

“Cargo hold is full” I am told. "Man that was quick all that Veld in 17100 m3 in less than 5 minutes, wow! Those skills paid off in the end".
Did I forget to mention . I am a Miner, and I fly a mighty Hulk. I really do have a Harb and have it fitted for violence; even though it doesnt have t2 stuff fitted. It could still be deadly, just possibly, maybe take someone down. “I like this idea” thoughts of violence often pass my mind while I widdle away my time blasting away Plagi, Kern. Veld, Scord and the occasional rat that crosses my little helpers .
Ahhh my drones. I Especially like, watching from their perspective. The circling, circling, circling, makes me feel like I am the one battleing it out with the rats. Then they explode and I go back to watching the mining lasers methodically pulse away at the roids. After six hours of this I usually dock up the hulk and go for a six pack at my local convenient store to get some of that liquid courage in me.. Have that YARRRRR come out....so my Harb blazing with its guns. can cross the void to its pleading victims. "please sir dont destroy my hulk, I love my hulk", “ HaHaaa I don´t " I type laughingly.
I undock and then wait to redock because the allotted time for squeezing my fat ass out the airlock is more than a 2 second wait. I had forgotten to re fit my ship after strip fitting it. This always seems to happen when I day dream while mining and after a six pack. hmmm…sounds tasty.. be right back.......................Back, another 6 pack. The YAAAARRRR is now Flowing through my veins, after an hour of borrowing money from Corp mates and buying inexpensive t1 gear and realizing my skills just dont seem to be up to it because I am fuckin miner. What a Great choice I made and a waste of 6 months. When I could have been learning the ways of YARRRRING.
So I manage to undock and try find the gate to .4 space Funny thing is, it dosent seem to be in the same place where I left it before the 2nd 6 pack. You know. I wonder at times how much does Concord really know . It’s a Good thing they are just looking for people with contraband and low sec ratings. I am just drunk and as far as I can remember Concord dosent seem to mind . I eventually find the gate and warp through. I un cloak
