Nooby Surprise

Erzak·

It started off as a normal day. I was just cruising along in my Rifter through the belts of Uitra, looking for unsuspecting miners to can flip. I usually don't canflip noobs, so I looked in to their corporate history to check their age before doing anything. A couple of minutes in, I run in to someone mining in to a can from a Retriever. I check his corporate history and find that in fact, he is almost 2 years old. I decide to throw caution to the wind, being a carebear delving in to piracy with a roughly fit frigate that could easily be destroyed by a 2 year old combat pilot. Instead of taking the bait, I see him warp away and dock at the station. I go to the station and set up camp outside, patiently waiting for him to undock. With about 5 minutes left on the aggression timer, he undocks. I check his ship to find that he's flying a Crow-class interceptor.

I have no idea of his skills or fitting so I assume the worst, that he has a fully tech 2 fit ship. He warp scrambles me and I quickly dock. I had never been up against a tech 2 ship solo before, especially not in a frigate vs a tech 2 frigate. I seek some guidance and find that it is highly possible for me to destroy him if I can stay within range. I decide to try my hand at killing him; after all, a Rifter isn't a big loss.
I undock and find myself a few KM from the Crow. I begin locking him but he docks up. With the timer ticking down, I decide to convo him and lay down some smack talk. As it turns out, he doesn't speak english, speaking only russian in our comms messages. Luckely, my advanced electronic interfaces have a built in web browser, allowing me to use a translator to speak in his native tongue. After 15 minutes of pure russian hatred, he undocks with less than a minute on the aggression timer. I quickly engage him, taking my chance to begin killing him before he has a chance to react. Within seconds, he is warp scrambled, stasis webbed, and he has 3 Scout class 200mm autocannons and a rocket launcher pounding at his shields. I quickly tell my navigational director to orbit his ship at 500 meters and to engage the afterburner. Surprisingly quickly, my Fusion ammo eats through his shields, with the additional explosions of the rockets aiding them. Once his shield was down, his armor slowly disintegrated under fire my autocannons. Once his armor was gone, his structure melted away, leaving him in space in his capsule with pod goo filling the space around him. At the end of the engagement, I was surprised to find that I had only half of my shield gone.

I quickly grab his loot and dock up, finding that he had a mediocre fitting of named T1 items. He had a total of only 5.4 million ISK of modules, most of which were destroyed. I only made about 2 million ISK from that kill, but the adrenaline was pumping in to my blood in dangerous quantities and I managed to snag my first solo kill of a Tech 2 ship, with a frigate no less. I glanced at the clock to find that I had only been online for a matter of minutes and I had started off my day with one of the best kills I have ever had. It just goes to show that you should never underestimate what can be done in a noob system.
