When Pirating Pays Off

Well this story includes a better detailed description to the Navy Issue Megathron mentioned by Shaz in the post below.

I logged in to discover my corpies had finally pinned down a player that they had been after for some time. Now this player, Butcher Kassad, claimed in his bio that he was a n00b with a Navy Issue Megathron. Nobody likes a gloater. So our corp had decided to ruin his day.

A friend of our corp, named Arnold Swartzenegger, had mentioned that Butcher was in the Aeschee system doing missions. So our online guys at the time got together to hunt Butcher down. Theodorivik, Kosher, myself, Arnold and Katamarino.

We had a Covert-Ops go into the system and scan probe the area. Sure enough, butcher was there doing his mission. We get a positive lock and the cloaked ship warps in. However, Butcher warps back to the station and docks. We all set-up, waiting patiently to gang warp to the covert-ops.

Eventually, Butcher warps back in. That was the call, the Covert-Ops is positioned well and we warp to it. I land about 30km away from the target. However I am the tackler in the trusty Ares Interceptor and manage to get him scrammed and open fire on him.

He is going no where and Kosher is already opening fire in his Megathron and Theo and Kat and Arnold are firing on him too. Butcher, may be a n00b but knows what he needs to do. He opens fire on my Ares and launches his Drones. My shield drops to zero and my armor starts to fade. Eventually at 50% armor I head away at high speed and break the scram lock but its too late for Butcher, the damage he is sustaining is too much and in a huge explosion, his prized asset, as well as many nice modules are no longer his.

He warps away and logs out. We find out later that he has quit the game, or so the rumors go. We celebrate and pick up the remains as well as some of his mission cans. We manage to get a fortune in loot as Shaz pointed out.

However my story doesnt stop there. Later on I am warping around in my Prophecy Battlecruiser and discover an offline Caldari POS. I post a corp mail explaining and ask if anyone wants to come along and destroy it. In the end it was just myself and Xenios. Before Xen gets there I take out the Silos and Refinery first. Then Xen arrives and we take down every module but the tower itself.

The loot dropped from the Silos was nice enough, I still need to share it with Xen. Between us we claimed 6215 polymers and 132,000 Fullerides. So far the day has been interesting and profitable. I scan around and find yet another offline POS, unfortunatly this one is well known as abandoned and is a dead end. Or is it.

I decided to keep looking. I warp to a planet at 15km so I can scan around. I drop out of warp and land right on top of an outlaw and his friend. I yell in gang chat for someone to warp to me, didnt have time to check what they were flying but I knew they were small, could have been Assault Frigates. I target the outlaw and scam him then open fire with lasers and light missiles. I destroy it and the friend flys off.

Turns out the friend was in a Shuttle but the outlaw I attacked and destroyed was a Buzzard Covert Ops. Not very Covert of him really. In local he doesnt seem to mind and claimed that I showed as +10 to him so he thought he was safe. If thats true then his CEO really messed up.

From that loot can I manage to get a Scan Probe Launcher and Probes, a Co-Processor II and a Covert Cloaking Device! I kept the Co-Processor and Probes then sold the Cloak for a decent price.

That day was so profitable, eventual shares from the Navy Megathron loot, shares from the POS loot and profit from the Buzzard loot. Its great when pirating pays off.
