Well how about the basics. What are a couple of good things to do when building a new character if piracy is what has your interest?

noobie·

How about some guides to settin up ambushes and attacks.

blahblah·

I'd like to see a guide on how to find good systems to pirate in.

Wannabe·

A post describing how to find good starting systems (not a simple list, of course), where there is some traffic, but not a lot of already established pirates.

More importantly some setups and ships that are adequate for a starting pirate but do not require ridiculous amounts of ISK or SP.

I wouldn't mind seeing a guide on how to travel around empire as -4.5 or below - I've seen others do it, I believe they are using instas, but is this the case? I took a trip into 0.8 as a -3.2 and it took about 2 minutes for CONCORD to arrive after their 'leave now' warning.

What are the specifics and timeframes? Is it possible to just 'pass through' these systems with instas?

Thanks!

For an early Caldari pilot looking to pirate this caracal will roast all frigs(Assault frigs, Ceptors and t1).

Highs: 5 Assault Launchers firing standards
Mids: 1 Afterburner, 1 Warp Disruptor, 1 Stasis webifier, 2x Tracking Disruptors
Lows: 1 Med armour Repairer, 1 800mm reinforced plate

Cheap and pretty much all frigs will think they can roast you. Then once they get in close and you open up on them it's already too late for them to get away. Will also roast some cruisers and all mining setups. :)

Pirate corporations... are they easy to find? are they the same as norma l corporations or they just go on their own? are they OMG WTF U NOOB IM GONNA PWN j00 WITH MAH UBERZ SKILLS style? or they r normal ppl?

Anonymous·

Depends, just like all other corporations some fall into the former and some the latter.

Mebbe a quick rundown on how us little guys with little knowledge of the 'verse can get out to 0.0 and have a blast WITHOUT accidentally pissin off any corp occupying that chunk of space? In the few time's I've gone out there, I've gotten my share of warnings, ranging from a friendly "pay the toll" message to a podding attempt. Ah, good times to be a relitive n00b...:)

Minnimum skill point requirments. It seems IMPOSSIBLE for a 5 Million skill point pilot to do JACK against anyone who has been playing for a year or more, given the same equipment on both sides.

i have found thatthe insta's work ok....providing it isnt a system thats got any lag!
After passing through Iyen-Oursta (0.8) and perimeter (1.0) using insta's fine no probs jumped into Jita (0.9) there was 200 odd in local when I selected warp to the next insta found as I decloaked was scrambled webbed and getting ganked by 2 Scorp's and 4 Moa's. I nearly made it back to the gate but popped. Tried my luck at a petition but got the politically correct terms for bugger off. I think this may have something to do with sec rating! So by all means try it but with a inexpensive ship! Oh it was a vagabond I lost. :-(

Where the hell do you find miners to ransom? I'm trying to go pirate in my Kestrel, and I figured the miners would probably try the .4 systems. But I can't seem to find anyone! I searched 4 systems without any luck. Yes, there was about 5-6 people at least in each one. Can you guys direct us to some useful places to hunt miners?

is there a test to see if i can become a pirate?

Big Hazard·

I'd like to see a guide with some very basic PvP information, which concentrates on t1 frigs with cheap non-named t1 fittings that a low sp character can actually fit properly.
I'm not looking for a listing of actual fittings, but more for strategies and tactics like what ranges to set up for, and how to deal with the insane cap drain of a mwd.

Agreed, we need guide on early pirating, wich will only go through t1 frigates (easyly obtainable).

I have 'tried' to start pirating, actualy it was more of, visit 0.4 and lower sec zone, stay at the gate try to get used to using the scanner, try to localize ships through their tail or suchs and visit astreoids belts (warp withing 40 km) and find out pirates actualy use the scanner a lot faster that I do since they came to the same belt like 15/30 sec after I warped there (got out easyly since I was already 40k+ km away).

---->>> we need a guide on how the scanner works (do we need probes ?etc..............), how well it works (with t1 ships). And all good situationnal explanations and tips.

We also need to know what ships we can take on our t1 frigates.
I was using rifter and I would have liked a list of ship I can and cannot take on, most common used weapons (not a complete descriptions but something that tell us if the damned ship has crappy targeting at low range or not, or if it is mainly used for low or long range fighting etc...)

And all basics thing like how can I transfer cash from one player to another (if I were to ask for a ranson or give one) and how does it show on the screen. All kind of silly questions you don't even think of :)

Then again I think it would be alot better to actualy have a pirate train you...

I had some idea yesterday, found a pirate (he tried to hunt me actualy), if he had some time I would have proposed him to teach me the use of scanner in echange for a little battle between the two of us. But helas he didn't have the time to be bothered with noobs :)

(I was thinking something along those lines : The pirate hide in one of the asteroid belts, if the noob manage to use the scanner correctly and find the pirate, through his teachings, the noobs warps to the belt and proceed to fight with the pirate, wich can then decide to ranson the player or get his mods, or even die if the noob play it better).

Then some actual piracy with a pro pirate to see how it actualy works.

I tried to find some pirates to work with, but most are busy/not answering (keep in mind I am not complaining) so I am going to try and learn alone mostly.

how to become a pirate?
what do i have to do?

Yangoid·

i think that the basics like timers and wot skills to get at the begginging would b nice

funny story was that once i was looking to pirate someone in 0.6 sec, first or second time pirating so i had good sec
and a tristan comes along so ofc i scramble and webify and then ask him for money since he knows i can kill him any time i like and the guy pops up a window and turns out hes a mining toon so he pays like 5 mil for a bloody tristan if i let ihm leave so i take it and let him leave ( later hunted him down using scanner and ransomed him agian lol he wasnt happy
