Here a story that happened last week:
THe tricky Pirate wins the pot
YAAAR!!!
Hi im Katharsis and doing piracy for some months now, started that just from my "birth" cause mining
just sucks :D
I wanna tell u a very funny story that happened just a week ago:
I was in gultratren hunting some miners with my claw when i saw a coverter in some belt... i warped
in immediately and was a little scared cause a old player in a rupture with full fitting was defending him
and nearly shot me down..
I run from him and waited at a ss near that belt to look if the rupture would go
away... after 15 mins i realized that he wont !
Having just a inty and hunting solo i realized that i would only have a chance to kill that dirty barge if
the rupture would leave for some time...
So i looked for a newb in local to test something...
I told him that if he sets a false SOS into local channel ill pay him 150k bugs:
He was a little scared first but after i explained that i wont trick him he finally agreed:

Just as he called for help the rupture jumped out to investigate knowing
that i was arround and looking for a quick kill
(thought that he was bored sitting there all that time :D)
In the meantime i warped to the coverter and killed him (he even coulnd get his drones out).
When i collected his can and jumped out i just saw the rupture entering again but he
couldnt do anything !!!
I looted 2 modulated strip miner II worth about twelve mills each HRRRRRR
I was so happy that i gave the newb an 200k bonus sitting at ss and laughing my ass out!!!
So once again the tricky pirate wins the pot !!
PS: i Tried that again some days later but this time i had a bad newb that warned the escorts through
local channel... bad luck but its a nice trick.

And yet you still tricked him. This wasn't a cunning plan or trickery, it was a bold-faced lie that belongs in Burn Eden and not eve-pirate.com
Talk about destroying victim/pirate trust relationships for the rest of us.
hmm the newb knew that i wanted to split the escort and he agreed! so why im hurting that relationship then? it was the newb that lied for the money and booth players were muuuch older than me ... and the escort guy was the one looking for a easy kill
...i never killed anyone that payed the fee but in this case it was all about timing and therefore ther was no time for ransome...
but my next post will be more honorable then!
maybe my first bs kill in the inty... that was a little more challenging :D

All Katharsis did was use his brain well to split up some forces. Asking another person in local to yell wolf for a fee was a good tactic. Although no one who know that person will believe him again. When pirating solo sometimes you just have to think outside the box.
Having been on several 'patrols' with Katharsis I can say that he always honors his word and is an excellent wingmate to fly with.

Genius! Very clever. Midirection is the key to magic, and I've gotta say that plan had a bit of magic in it.
Nice tactic paid off well. As a pirate game machanics force us to adapt 24/7. With every new patch there is something in there to attempt to kill off our trade. U thought out of the box and used everything in your power to remove the threat and in my oppion was not dishonest about it. U simple pirated a target. If anyone is at fault it was the escort. U never leave your corp mate unprotected even if it is to aid someone else...

I did misread the origonal article to be interpreted that he conned the miner into the fake attempt, and killed the miner. After rereading I realised I was in error and apologize to the origonal poster.
But please, your childish name calling belongs in any other community but EVE.
Very nice job. I've tried the same thing before and had some limited results. Usually I let people know I have lots of good loot or ore that needs moving. Sometimes I get a new player to ask for help hauling npc loot or ore and then when the hauler/helper turns up I am there. Although thats usually when I'm bored and dont want to go looking for people :D

Hehe, a smarter move for the noob would have been to warn the escort of the attempt, ask for 500k/1 million, make the false SOS.
Then the escort warp 15 km away, and immediately warp back, scramble and kill :)
But the noob obviously couldn't think outside of the box either :)
(He would have been a pirate if he could anyway :D)
