The end of my story.

Malka Badi'a·

I started in piracy, many moons ago, because I wanted to understand the darker side of EVE. I wanted to embrace it, learn it, and then show it to the public view. Such cruelty displayed with such cunning was never something I could ignore, and thus I dove into it headfirst. It began with killmails, ship loadout testing, and eventually joining EVE-pirate. From there I became friends with some of the players I consider to be the most brilliant pilots in EVE, from Verone, to Trey, and even Siddy. Life was fun, hunting was good, and then came the part where I return what I've gained back to the EVE community.

Posting ship setups suddenly brought flames because of their unsual setup. Posting pirate philosophy brought even more flames because of the nature of my piracy (hunt, murder, then teach). Flame after flame has filled my posts in EVE, eve-mail after insulting eve-mail has filled my EVE inbox. Yesterday someone managed to obtain my phone number through a "whois" command ran on my hosted website, calling me with a flurry of insults and threats. Over a -game-. No more, I won't take it.

I greatly enjoyed my time here, learning from everyone and accepting the sides of EVE that most people simple view as "childish and dishonorable". The pirate community is not only the most mature aspect of EVE I've ever seen, but also the most intelligent. I hope to return in the future, if the game allows, to continue furthering my tutorials and ship-ideas for others to read and grow upon. For now, I simply don't feel 1.) Safe continuing to piss people off with out-of-the-box ship ideas and 2.) I see no reason to continue helping a community that turns a game into something far beyond personal insults.

I wish you all well, and good hunting. Remember that modules and ships do not a pirate make, but your intelligence and reputation. Expand your ideas, run the mathamatics, and enjoy the game for what it is.

Nooooooo!!!!! Dammit! The terrorist have won!

Spathi·

Call the cops, they will trace whoever called you and take action. While you might think it minor, it will set a precident for idiots not to call people and make threats and/or offensive remarks especially over a game.

Malka Badi'a·

A *69 said the number was unobtainable. I'm assuming this was because it was from overseas and not just within the US territory. How would that be handled through these matters?

Nuggan·

That just means they have a way to block people using *69 Malka, its not hard to do. The police will definately be able to trace the call, and I highly suggest you get in touch with them. Dont let these bullies push you around. Some people have trouble distinguishing the game from real life. I havent got any phone calls, but I have recieved my fair share of hate mail, and you cant let it get to you. There are plenty of people out there who like you and appreciate the posts you make. The problem is its usually only the ones who dislike you who take the time to send you mail.

Malka Badi'a·

I wish it was as simple as just hatemail, but these are coming from people I've never even spoken with, nor engaged. I'm going to give EVE a break and let the tide settle down. I know I can be a confrontational person when it comes to information distribution, but only because it takes that much effort to get a legitimate discussion out of people.

Anonymous·

Sad to see you're going and you should really inform the police - a crime is a crime no matter how small

Spathi·

While *69 wont get their number, the cops can. Every call in the US and indeed from most countries in the world are recorded (as in number from and to, not the convo recorded) for security and billing purposes. The cops will easily be able to get the caller's number from the phone companies. Calling people up and making threats, especially over a computer game, is still illegal. I get a lot of fanmail in eve but I just laugh at it. Obviously I would call in the cops for a phonecall where someone made threats even if I wasnt feeling insulted or threatened.

Cutie Anja·

I agree with the police comments.

While I'm not a pirate (though it's very tempting, since there's more money in it than ratting and I'm getting tired of being ransomed and blown up every day), I appreciate the honorable and honest pirates. I like seeing ship setups, tactics and read the stories.

Of course, whenever I get blown up or ransomed it pisses me off something awful, especially when you just can't seem to get ahead in the game for a while (negative cashflow combined with loss of equipment). Still, that doesn't give me the right to threaten anybody in real life (heck, or even in the game. I know when I'm outmatched by superior skills).

I just vent, bitch for a bit and try and make some more money...

Hopefully things will quiet down quickly and you'll be back in game and enjoying it. After all, that's what it's really all about: Having fun.

Nuggan·

Well good luck then m8. Sorry to see you go. If there is anything I can do to help just let me know!

Adoran Wa'alle·

You've been a great contribution to the game community, and have turned my attitude towards losing ships from "Damn, I lost one" and log off; to "Hmm...Wonder what I did wrong" and buy a new ship, figure out what it was that went wrong, improve it, and test it.

Regards,
Adoran Wa'alle :)

Velsharoon·

Im so sorry to hear that this has happened, Its sad to lose someone like you and some people are just fucked up in their attitude to pirates in eve...

Reviled in game is ok, but my enemies always respected me (proper enemies such as anti rats not emo victims).

Thanks from ATUF for the TS access.

Trey Azagthoth·

Man, that is such horseshit what people do. That royally pisses me off. It was awesome knowing you and thank you for the TS access. I for one loved the setups and advice that you gave to younger pilots and pirates in training, even the more experienced pilots always learned a thing or 2 from your guides. You will be missed Malka. My email: [email protected], feel free to contact me if you need anything, or you just wanna chat, you are a friend of mine. Take it easy bro, see you on the other side.

-Trey Azagthoth

Sun Ra·

WTH thats real gay :(

Xeom·

I really enjoyed some of you ship setup's.Even though i never used them they got me thinking on some of my setups.Trying to push what most people consider shitty ships to something that is truely awsome with "out of the box" setups.

You really shouldn't let this stop you.If anything have some fun with it.Post some of you're kill mails and rip them apart. And hopefully get that 1 dude in trouble call the cops.

Assur·

If the thread was made over internation borders it would be a federal manner uncertain who to contact. Nonetheless I'd contact the police, Just don't get arrested for being an evil pirate ;-)
Sucks to see ya go since I haven't had a chance to engage you :/ Maybe when you return. Good luck.

Pliskkenn·

It's a real bummer tosee you go, I was hoping to meet up with you in game at some date. I have no idea why people can't handle your ship set ups or why they kicked up such controversy, and I personally believe that if someone went out of their way to threaten you over a game, then they should be denied the right to play any game, as they let it get to them FAR to much. They can;t be right in the head.

Hopefully you'll return one day, be it in anotehr guise, only time can tell. Until then, save travels.

Balklanac·

Come Back Malka
Just like people in game lie people in real life lie to and OFTEN. Whatever the f.head said, forget about it.Its bullshit 100% bullshit.

Ontan·

This is a damn shame. It's also a crime, IMO you should take this to the police. It may involve a few phone calls to find the right agancy, State, Federal or International. Report the fucker and rail his ass. My two cents, anyway.

Mumbochicken·

It's a shame to see you go. I've only been playing a little over a month, but have really enjoyed reading your different setups and tips on pirating. Maybe it's because I'm still a noob but I don't understand why the different setups you posted brought flames. They seemed to work well for the task they were made to do.

Slink·

Malka, i'm sorry to see you go. I for one would not have given in to some sad sack of shit who fails at life. But then i'm not in your position.

I wish I had this persons ingame name so I could seek him out and use ingame methods to make his blood boil.

Sicex·

Malka... Im so sad. :(

Thanks for all your teachings and so on... helped me out tremendously.

Jordania·

It is sad it has come to this. When things like this happen I ask myself one question, what the **** is going on with the world today?

I never met you ingame but I have seen alot of you kooky setups around the place. I applaud you for thinking outside the box and making it work!

Hope that one day you will return to the Eve Universe and continue enjoying it for what is is.... a game. I only wish other people could remember this.

Yarrrrrrr.

Ander·

Not only is this public knowledge, but having worked within the military secret service in Sweden and now running my own small ISP (with connections with telcos) I can tell you that all calls in the world are traceable. Unless they called from an anonymous cellphone sim-card or a paybooth.

You should certainly report this incident to the police, not only will they be able to give you the location of where this call was made. But also possibly track down whoever did it.

You have my full support in this matter, and as a company president I will also support any action against such offenders.

b1gs341·

Hope you dont go Malka. I really enjoyed your posts on EVE-O and even contacted you in-game about the punisher setup you posted. Dont let whoever called you get away with this. Like everyone else is saying. Call the police.

Malka Badi'a·

That's much better news Ander. I'm trying to collect as much initial information as possible from my telephone carrier and will then turn this over to the police. My initial concern however is that no physical threats were made, just insults. Even if that isn't an illegal activity I'll still report it as nessessary. The conversation was as followed (best of my writing, hoping my cell carrier has some sort of recording device?)

[phone call initiated]
"Talk to me goose" (it's from Top Gun :P, dont' ask)
"You fucking prick. You wanna try and kill me now? You are a fucking whore and you fucking know it. I called to size you up, man to man, and you just aint worth it asshole."
"What the.. who is this?"
[caller hung up]

Everyone's support is very appreciated and it's good to see friends. Malka is not going to hop back into EVE though, not until I can figure out a way to secure my registrant information. I don't plan on taking this lying down and I don't plan on staying away from EVE for long. Just until I can secure this situation.

Malka Badi'a·

What's all this shit on the main forums about this call being a "Death threat"?

There wasn't any sort of death threat involved, EVER. I do feel threatened because registration information requires a physical address, but he never threatened to take my life O.o

What the hell are the forums talking about?

Copine Callmeknau·

This isn't right :/

I was hoping to meet you ingame, but it appears some psychotic loser is going to stop that from happening.

I hope the police can do something about this, because we want you back in EVE :)

D'hara·

Get the callers information, and report it to CCP. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable, and i am sure CCP will act on it.

On a side note: Very sad to see you go, i enjoyed all your guides and setups on the eve-o forum, and truly hope you will be back some day.

Sakura Nihil·

That kind of behavior is simply unacceptable - this needs to be dealt with immediately and harshly.

Do come back in time, I'll try out your Punisher setup sometime ;).

Thut'ankh Amon·

Malka dont quit, those people who have mental issues with distinguishing between RL and game should not win. Just report this idiot to police and let them teach him the error of his ways.

Hope to see you online :-)

Suhadi·

Can I have your stuff? ;-)

Really hope you don't leave the game over this, turn it over to the police and let them deal with it. Chances are it isn't going to happen again, and if it does just record it for evidence/comedy value. You're only going to make some pimply little shiteater's day if you give in to it.

HippoKing·

call the police, and if you know which ingame character was calling, report them to CCP.

sorry to see you go, but i understand. Recieving phonecalls about a game would fuck me up

Ishquar Teh'Sainte·

Very sad news to hear ...

Sometimes i can't understand the players of EVE ...

.. if you don't like a guy - shoot him INGAME ... out of the game there's no need to become a psychotic a****** and to harrass other players.

.. if you don't like the fitting tips by someone - ignore him and don't fit it ... it's so easy.

I hope there's a happy end (<- *waah* bad baaad word ;-) ) - and you'll come back soon.

btw - I like your "Bleeder" Punisher ... it's a great base for Frig-Duells (especially if you fit a neutralizer and a nos - the cap of the puni can hold the neut ... as long as your target isn't a puni it can't ;-) )

Gariuys·

Flames are never good. But real life... the guy needs sometime in jail.

Sumone·

LOL .. can't take teh heat ;-)

xe-cutey·

I had a similiar problem a few years ago with an owner of a rival website, i simply pay extra now for for anonymous caller reject and so they can't with-hold there number, so now if anyone wants to prank call me they have to do it from a payphone (some payphones even don't get through as some auto with-hold there number) and they soon get sick of that.

Ander·

You can always use private registration option.
It usually cost roughly 2$ a year to add to your current registration if you use GoDaddy as registrar.

Melkor·

This is just unbelievable...

He should be made outlaw, so we can all hunt him down everywhere! (Yes, even in high-sec systems) Over and over again.

PS. not perma-ban, that's like death sentence. thats to easy...

Suladriel·

Agreed.

I'm a telephone engineer IRL, and all telephone exchanges these days are digital...basically just a big computer, and all details of every call is recorded, including the number that has called you, even though you may not be able to get the information youself, the police will have access to get this info.

I am a pirate in game but never receive any hatemail, etc like you have so I have no idea how you are feeling right now.
What I can say though is, yes, give the game a break for a few weeks. Only the most vocal asshats are the ones that will argue with you in forums, all the more sensible people will look at your techniques and set ups and think about them sensibly, take them on board and probably up your respect level a notch or two.

In short.....arseholes will be arseholes.

Although I don't know you in-game, I hope you will come back to the game sooner, rather than later.

Johncrab·

It's really a shame. I'll miss your posts. And the guy that did this to you should be in jail imho.

Have a good life

ArtemisEntreri·

I liked your approach to the way of a pirate, because it was fresh and you explained every module in your fit as it was unique. I't s good in a way that he let his emotions go through voice rather than coming to your house which is farily easy knowing your phone number, but I wish you all the best wherever you go.

Greenbolt·

To share a RL story. A friend of mine using my computer while i slept one night made threats to a nother play that involved soem RL information (during a different online game..both were students at same school but did not know each other.)

I found out about this the next day when the state police strip searched my dorm room. (Turns out the person using my computer made references to owning a gun RL and the other gamer immediatly called the police and they traced it back to my computer)

Anytime you get a threat like this. report it and report it immediatly. Its amazin how much information they store and track..and a bit scary...and I can attest that the police can take this stuff VERY seriously.

(I posted this on eve-forums as well)

Yggr·

Malka - I love your Punisher setup! Haven't had the stones to use it in PvP yet tho.

Malka - godaddy.com offers webhosting and anonimity. You pay a little extra, and all the registrant information is godaddy's DomainsByProxy, Inc. Any queries DomainsByProxy receives, it can forward on to you.
The important thing is that NONE of your own personal information is available through a Whois lookup.

I hope you come back!
Yggr

Alex Kynes·

You're one of the most interesting persons I've met in EvE. So... hope to see you in space soon. :D

MercedesBenz·

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! You where my favorite pirate! Please don't go :(

The Armin·

I've recently signed up to the game and honestly, I have no other desire than to become a pirate. I've read your setups and post with interest, and like that you've become a pirate-model for young players with no other desire than to shout YAHARR !!!1 in local.

It'd be sad to see you go, because that would be a loss to the pirate scene in EVE in general. And especially for us new, who needs ideas and shipsetups to be stimulated into comming up with something ourselves.

You should never quit when people asks you to quit, or would like to see you quit. In fact thats like surrendering and not something a pirate would've done. Quit when you're on top.

My 2 cents,
Armin.

Malka Badi'a·

Many thanks for your kind words and support, Armin.

To everyone else, It seems there is a bit of confusion. I'm not leaving EVE for ever, just for a month or two. I need to secure my personal information and then take a break from the EVE drama/politics before entering again. Chins up, Pirate flags raised, and good hunting until I return.

xe-cutey·

good on ya shipm8.

can't let the little runts play with ya mind.

Like i say i had a similiar problem so i suggest ya get anonymous caller reject (if they have that option in the USA, as i am from the UK).

Luckily, i gave fake info on my website so my rivals can't track me, however i know this is illegal and i could get into some sh!t over it.

My rival got my phone number from one of my staff :(

Anyway if the ediot phones again try to get his in-game name, also after like previous people have said get the pol-ice onto his arse, even make up sh!t such as he threatened your life to fast track his arrest.

Will soon scare the baby jesus out of him!

Also if ya do get his in-game name then i'm fairly sure he won't be playing EVE for much longer with all of us on his hairy arse!

Blaiyne·

I'm not a pirate, although I have had some run-ins with pirates before, and lost ships and equipment. However with pirates, Eve is immeasurably richer as a game. Even as a non pirate carebear I still get that rush every time I try and break through a gatecamp, or everytime I warp to a safespot just as local fills with pirates. Without that element of danger, that fear of losing things, I could be playing any other space game.

Therefore it is completely unacceptable that you should receive threats in real life - it's like saying if I shoot someone in an online first person shooter they have the right to come and shoot me in real life. Hey, it's a game. An exiting, sometimes frustrating, game, but a game nontheless. Anyone who doesn't recognise that should not be playing it, and really has some issues in real life they need to get to grips with.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do, but bear in mind you have the support of 99.9% of the Eve gaming community on this issue. That won't stop me being annoyed if you blow up my ship, but hey - it is just a game, after all!

Tavor Jeager·

What he did is totaly out of order, and he does indeed deserve to have some encounters with what ever local police force.

hope to see you light up green befor long.

NightfallGemini·

I *really* hope you get the son of a bitch who called you, both in-game and in real life.

Ferito Amore·

I dont know you, nor do i want to, untill we meet in EVE ;)

I am a cop (although maybe not in the same country) and i can assure you action would be taken to the extent of a warning. Unless physical evidence of the verbals could be proven in a court of law no charges could be brought. They will be able to trace the person. A record of calls made to you will be listed at the exchange. Its usually a paperwork excersise to get them. Time consuming all the same.

A warning shot across the bows will hopefully wake this individual. As people have already mentioned it is a must. You can never let these people go. I deal with comms abuse alot and i ask people to do as much as they can to secure themselves against others. Never use your personal details on any webpage or an easily accessible place. Change your numbers asap, usually free from your operator when the police are involved. Your doing the right thing and i as others will look forward to your return. Hope you enjoy being an icon. hf and gl.

Ferito Amore

That Guy·

Can I have your stuff?

Tido Maliyu·

Some things in the world are messed up... liek that guy 0.o

hope you can do what you need to do fast and get back to the best game evah :D

PikeyUK·

I'm new, in fact a few days new to EVE an still trying to find where i want to fit into the whole online world, which is EVE.
It's a game which cant really exist without having a mixture of both, it's built around the foundations of good and evil, for want of a better word.
The problem here is some moron who cant distinguish between the real world and some online game. Now while they might spend every waking hour playing the game, they should also have the common sense to not confuse the two.

I agree with everyone above here that you should report this, at the very least they would track them down and give then some kind of warning about any such future activities. The mere fact a cop turned up on their door, would start the brown river flowing down their inside seem of there trousers and no doubt would end up in some paper to name and shame the moron involved.

Although i don't know you from Adam, i can tell by the response on here that you are a well respected member of the 'dark side of eve' ;) I hope that once this is sorted you can get back to enjoying the game you obviously love and the person responsible for making you feel like this gets their just deserts.

Until take it easy and will see you around no doubt, never know i might come track you down and be one of the many wishing to learn the dark arts :D

PS on a side note, doe's anyone know what a Angry Pirate is? :D

***The "Angry Pirate": When your girl is on her knees giving you a blow job and right when you go give her the load of your man chowder, you pull out and shoot it in one of her eyes. When she stands up to wipe the stuff out of her eyes, kick her in the shin as hard as you can and run. When she gives chase she will be limping with one eye closed yelling "ARG".***

Thought it was quite apt to share that here :D

The Knight·

Hi, I'm not a pirate and in fact I'm fairly new to the game (6 months) but I come to this website and similar websites to learn from the best. It's too bad a dumbass like this is preventing you from continuing to play the way you choose to play. I'd stop playing EVE tomorrow if the pirate aspect of the game was lost. I've started my career as a mission runner / anti-pirate, but I know how I will end up.

Anyway, look forward to reading your stuff in the forums.
