So, I was sat in Augnais, finalising preperation for my corp turning -10 a few days back when I see two guys in local chat. What I read intrigued me...

I loaded the map, the only 0.4 even remotely close was indeed 2 jumps away. "Avenod", on the border of Republic space, Low traffic and no kills in 24 hours judging by the readout the map was giving. Tempting. I kitted up my rax with a decent loadout and headed for Avenod.
EVE System > Channel changed to Audaerne Local Channel

Less than 10 minutes later, Scanned, Locked down. Third belt on the list. I warped in 8,000m from them. Rax primary. I tore it into structure, the pilot, Michael Snark made a valiant attempt at beating off my attack, The plated tank on my rax too heavy for his medium blasters to breach. He was soon in flames... Chat in local ensued, from his friend Strez, piloting a catalyst, who warped out, leaving his wingman to die.
Verone > hold your fire.

I opened a convo with the Thorax pilot who remained silent in local, and offered him a price to save his badly damaged Thorax.
Michael Snark > yea?
Verone > 3 million isk or your ship

Verone > you have 30 seconds.
Michael Snark > well...
Michael Snark > okay
Verone > 20
Michael Snark > hey, not so fast
Verone > i don't have time to mess around
Michael Snark > got it?
Verone > you're free to go
Michael Snark > okay.
Verone > a little advice, never announce in local that you're heading to lowsec 2 jumps out
Verone > it makes people like me become opportunists :)

3 million paid for his safe passage, I released the Thorax from my identical ship's grip, and he limped into warp, smoking and venting flames into space.
Now for the Catalyst. I got back on the scanner, within seconds, bingo. Two belts down in the list. I hit warp, reloading my T2 small hybrids as I went. With a deep rumble and a bounce of the camera drone I dropped out of warp, seamlessly, 15km from the Catalyst. Locked, Disrupted, Hybrid fire tearing at his shields as I barreled towards him.
An offer of a ransom ensued as his ship cought fire :

Antmatter tore into what was left of his ship, destroying it and firing his pod into space. Sadly, it warped too fast for my Rax to catch. Several 150mm Carbide rails, and a named T1 afterburner were my reward. Lovely.
Local chat ensued once more :

Verone > i look forward to it

All in all not a bad little run considering that ten minutes later I had to log out to go to work.

LOL, I love it. Good job on using your scanners. I gotta make a better habit of using my scanner. I recently got myself into a position where I got ransomed...the thing that made it unique is that I initiated the attack. I blogged it here: http://blogs.gamersinfo.net/index.php/eo
