How come it's always the good stuff that gets blown up?

Yesterday we had a run-in with a HAC-pilot in a muninn.

He had a habit of warping from a certain direction into the belt. Snipe some newbies in frigs in a muninn then jump out toward next belt and go down the list three jumps or to one of the planets in this system.

It became quite clear that he was repetative in his behaviour and he would always warp in to the same place on that belt where he faught us.

He had long complained that we would warp out in our two thorax. Of course we warp out, two thorax setup for closerange versus a sniper muninn. Bad idea over a distance.

So after having played cat and mouse with a muninn we decided to just sit still at the exact location where he usually ran into the belt.

10 minutes later on his second round, he landed right ontop of us. Four points of scramble and his ship was stuck.
While our small blasters and drones were pounding him he told me in a conversation "enjoy the loot" then after he had died, he laughed. "That was almost worth dying for!"
Infact, all his good loot had been destroyed. All that remained was a gyrostab II a 720mm howitzer II and some tech2 ammo.

The killmail displayed the following items destroyed:
Reactor Control Unit I
720mm Howitzer Artillery II
720mm Howitzer Artillery II
720mm Howitzer Artillery II
720mm Howitzer Artillery II
Domination Tracking Enhancer
Tremor M, Qty: 1224 (Cargo)
Shadow Serpentis Tracking Computer
Sensor Booster II
Domination Gyrostabilizer
Domination Gyrostabilizer
Quake M, Qty: 5
Quake M, Qty: 5

I think CCP really hates us pirates and want all the good loot to get blown up.

On other hand another guy was doing NPC missions in a tempest. Clearly not checking the scanner for scan probes. We found him and warped in. Four strenght of scrambler power later he was down and quickly going into armor and hull.
We asked for 50, he declined and offered 30 since he didnt have that money (He claimed). Not taking up on such a cheap offer for an expensive tempest we took our chances and blew it up. This time 4 of the guns survived, but all other named expensive mods also got blown up. I strongly doubt that this guy only had 30 million isk as he said, since he was soon back in an arbitrator to his mission spot setup to jam my thorax.
I could tank him for a long while and my wingman soon warped in and finished him off.

Cruisers are infact the funniest ship to fly and conduct piracy in.

Heh sounds brilliant. Sniping is one thing, its annoying, but it happens. Sniping in the same place over and over is really annoying....but incredibly stupid. Didn't he twig that you'd be right next to his face on one of his return trips? Same you didn't get all that fancy loot mind, could have been a really nice pay day.

I think he was too sure that he'd just make us run. He put in some good damage on my ship earlier, but that was when we had just finished fighting some other people and I had no cap and my hardeners werent running at all.

I think he overestimated his ships damage output.

Pliskken, you might want to ask him yourself. It was caldicott. ;)

He orginally warped in on us after we fought a rupture frig and tempest. The rupture and tempest managed to get out after the tempest jammed both of us. Also the tempest was almost all t2, noway did he not have 50mil.

Heh overestimating anything is always bad, you'll either convince yourself you'll win *If its you* or you'll lose *If its your enemy*

No one likes liars either. When will people learn to tell the truth, and that paying a ransom will save your ship. Thats if your offered a ransom. I've been hearing a lot of just pure destruction from a lot of different partys recently.
