Must have pissed someone off here, this might require some background. Still in amamake, scouting the belts, I came upon a raven and an iteron several times. Now that wasen't really an ideal battle for me in my rifter, but when I saw the iteron floating in a belt alone later, I just locked and fired away, expecting a trap. However, the raven didn't show, and the iteron was destroyed. The moment my screen was flashing because of the lovely explosion, we get this in local, enjoy:

Wasen't really bragging about it, was justt enjoying the smack. I mean, that hauler could have been filled with minerals, as it had been around that belt with the raven for quite some time. I would have ransomed, but I was still under the impression it would be a trap to lure me or any other pirate into a trap. Apparently, it wasen't, bad luck for both of us, and lesson learned, don't wander in belts in a hauler...
I don't know, but I am very new to the game. The excerpt seems to counter some of the principles that Ander emphasizes here. I just fail to see the honor or profit. No real strategy or skill was involved and, unless I misunderstand the spirit of this site, it smacks of griefing.
Again, I didn't know the contents of the hauler, I was guessing it had at least some minerals aboard, appears I was wrong. Anyway, if pirates attack any hauler approaching a gate then what's wrong with attacking a hauler in a belt, is it that much different?
Since many haulers carry good expanders it's generally worth to shoot down any hauler which you encounter.
I suppose there isn't much honor in shooting down a hauler, but there sure is profit involved.
The general answer would be that he was in lowsec. That reason alone is reason to kill. If it wasn't dangerous, why would it be any different from highsec?
highsec is dangerous too, yesterday i podded a guy in 0.6 :)

this morning I punished a stupid AFK miner in low sec too. destroyed his IT and showed him the short cut to the station. too bad he is too young to value my lesson.
low sec mining without protection or proper preparation is stupid and deserves killing.
