Picture the scene:
I'm flying a Merlin in Maila and find a rifter on scanner which I think I'll have a go at. When I track it down, it's
got an Osprey with it too. 'What the hell' I think and have a go anyway. Fighting both of them, I
got the rifter into structure and was about 2 seconds from killing it when my shield gives out
under the missile barrage from both of them. Damn.
About 20 minutes later, after a refit and a new ship, I find the same rifter, alone in Maila.
Revenge!
I warp on top of him and start scrambling. Without the Osprey, he's going down fast. I still have
half my shield and he's started to run, trying to get out of scramble range with only structure left
to keep him alive. I hit my afterburner and move in for the final few shots. I can feel the sweet
taste of victory within my grasp. And then.....
MY F*CKING COMPUTER FREEZES UP!!!!
When I log back in I find myself in a safe spot and my prey has vanished. The only consolation
is that I didn't lose another ship, but that's not much comfort when you've been the victim of
such a cruel injustice.
As a mathematician I can't even begin to imagine the odds of a computer lock at such a critical
moment, especially when IT HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!
The only conclusion I can come to is that the universe hates me.
