new to this site.... an intro about me and info on my last 'mishap'...!

Hello all...
First off may I just say that Eve-Online is the best game I've played... and may it continue to grow...
Hopefully I've set this in the right part of the forum... apologies in advance if it's not and no doubt if it ain't the Mod will be nice and shift it to the right place....? :)
I'm online now: 22-06-06 in England....(in Surrey and that aint an apology, we all aint rolling in wonga and live in posh houses, some of us are 'poor ' in Surrey.... lol I'm currently watching the World Cup as well, while I'm building my skills up.... much needed work to be done here, as I'll explain in a short while.
I'd just like to say that I reckon it's high time for me to get the fekk out of this Corp I'm in (Caldari Provisions) and spread my wings etc.
I'm getting the urge to go and 'top/slot/ice/pod... blah blah blah etc etc (enter your own expression here) a few ships.
Still not used to all the lingo/jargon/Evespeak on here or online either. No doubt I'll pick it up in time (I originally joined Eve back in 2004.........! ) hmmm why have I got such a low standing then I hear you ask (assuming you've either seen me flitting about on Eve, or have checked me out.

I've had a few ships shot out from under me a few times... most were acceptable risks.. with the exception of one... I got jumped when I was in space warping to a station (hauling freight), and I was also experiencing lag and my pc froze up too!!) No warning.. just had the proverbial kicked out of me and ended up floating around in my pod.. No demand for ransom etc.... I suppose I take some small comfort in the fact that I wasn't killed.. No reason as to why I was podded(?) if that's the word. Maybe I was in the wrong place at the wrong/right time dependant on your view.

Still I learnt from it and have since ensured that any craft I use is insured and also I can afford(!?) to 'lose' the ship
I then had the problem of work interferring with my time on Eve (or rather the lack of it...!!) I was made redundant along with nearly 300 others when the Co I worked for decided to close the place down and move everything up North... after being in my home town for over 100 yrs.. the workforce was originally 2000+, but over the years, with modern work practices etc, along with redundancies this was whittled down to around 300. Anyway the upshot is I couldn't afford to 'waste' (I use the term loosely) money on such things as Eve, so apart from taking a long break to visit family in the USA I suspended my account, I thought my character would be lost/deleted after being offline for over a year...!! Suprised to find it still there when I contacted CCP to find out. They confirmed it was and now I'm back, and trying hard to update my skills and get some isk in my wallet to buy the neccessary ship(s) I think I'll need to do my small part on here... lol

Approved by: Nuggan (cleaned to extended...the usual)

I do a bit of ratting and other mission in a few systems (I'm in The Forge Region at present and am looking to move out and have some fun along the way.
If this means taking out a few ships etc then so be it.. ("Yo Ho Ho... I'ts A Pirates Life For Me........"(?) lmaooo (Well maybe)
I'm running about in a Moa at the moment.. trying out a few weapons combinations, along with various other fittings to get the max out of the ship..
Unfortunately for me I warped into a whole raft of Kazka Pirates (was part of a mission to get 30 Drifter Spurs) A mission called
Protecting the Vault (Stirring the Nest)..... Seems that I did that all right! I got 5 of the buggers and then got into a few problems.. Mainly lag(!) as well as getting carried away with bringing my shields/armour levels up.. my capacitor levels when right down... lost the ability to warp out (I was being seriously hampered by about 12 of the buggers, way too many for me to cope with and although I got 5 (as I said) I was being worn down by sheer numbers.. as a result I was left floating in my pod!
This was a tad embarrising as I watched a noob flying in just before me and I got there to see him get the shit blown out of him (he was in a Merlin and didnt stand a chance.. he was right in the thick of it and lasted about 15 secs!!
I took pity on him.... and in a moment of charity I gave him a Merlin kitted out (maybe for just being a plucky lil fekker and trying to take on the 'world and his dog'! Bloody funny watching him go down, I chatted to him for a while and found out he'd only been online for about 4 days, thought Eve was the best thing since sliced bread so to speak and then, as I said gave him a Merlin kitted out...!) Just told him to remember others along the way and to pass on help as/when required.. I had the same done for me when I first joined Eve. So why not pass it on ('Pay it Forward.... Eve-Online style! Kevin Spacey eat yer'heart out... lol) and then I go and do this more or less straight afterwards! Considering I told him to check out the missions before hand and to make sure you're capable of doing the mission too (look before you leap etc...!!) 10/10 on the redface factor!!

"Want some humble-pie Pondhopper........?"
yes please fekkin shedloads!!!

Victim: pondhopper
Alliance: None
Corp: Caldari Provisions
Destroyed: Moa
System: Sakkikainen
Security: 0.6

Involved parties:

Name: Thorn Rocket / Unknown (laid the final blow)

Destroyed items:

Small Inefficient Hull Repair Unit
Carbonized Lead S, Qty: 92 (Cargo)
Havoc Heavy Missile, Qty: 253 (Cargo)
Large C5-L Emergency Shield Overload I
Heavy Missile Launcher I
Target Painter I
Nuclear S, Qty: 95 (Cargo)
Heavy Modal Laser I
Focused Modal Medium Laser I
Multifrequency M
Acolyte I (Drone Bay)
Small Tractor Beam I
Tracking Disruptor I
Type-D Power Core Modification: Diagnostic System
Serpent F.O.F. Light Missile I, Qty: 200 (Cargo)
Proton S, Qty: 4 (Cargo)
Havoc Heavy Missile, Qty: 16
Sabretooth Light Missile, Qty: 12

sad to say it was a poxy little Thorn Rocket that laid the final blow....! but "C'est la vie....!" (slightly embarrasing flying back in a pod to get a new ship!!)

Not upset by this incident just annoyed that I didn't prepare for this mission a bit better.... ie, go in with a few others in a gang.. I may even not bother with the mission until I get the neccessary skills improved to use better equipment. I couldn't use the warpgate as I needed to use a smaller craft so I warped over to the hideout, thinking there would only be a few... and to concentrate on the smaller craft (as suggested by the agent... bugger failed to mention that there would be shitloads of 'em, assuming he was talking about the region as a whole!)
So as you can see from the above, I think I was 'a tad optimistic' before I took this on...
I should've warped in and then taken a look in a frigate/destroyer and then set the ship accordingly.. I couldn't be arsed to go back 5 jumps to get my Cormorant so I went in thinking I would be ok (that'll teach me to 'look before I leap...')
At least I was fully insured so I could get another Moa when I got back to base!

I lost a lot of gear on that little run, I was using that lot to try out a combo of shoot em up and recover the cargo at a decent distance, hoping to keep them at a decent distance, trouble is those pesky Kazka rats weren't playing by those 'rules' they got in too close and no matter how far I tried to keep them at a distance they swarmed all over me and I was done for.. I lost 2 drones on the first run in there, topped 3 of them and got the cargo, warped out, restored my shields and went back in and got 2 more (got the cargo) these were all at a decent distance (took them out at a range of 40km, moved in and recovered the cargo. All of a sudden the buggers were on me.. 1 cruiser and 12 frigates and I was toast!!I used a variety of weapons to try and cpmpensate for different types and distance..!
Seems I've (still) got a lot to learn.
So it's back to the drawing board to shove my skills up. I've downloaded a programme called EveMon to identify my 'shortcomings' and it's helping me... a little bit from what I can see). So unfortunately I need a few million isk....!!! to get the required gear to help me go up a few levels in terms of ship and equipment..!
So as a result deciding to be a little bit on the 'bad' side' will now have to wait a while until I get a few skills up and running and also getting a few bits and pieces to help me along the way...
Not sure that when I do go take a few ships out what the requirements are though, as it seems to me that there are a few different approaches from what I've seen..

1: shoot first (ask after!! lmaoo) assuming that I'm capable of taking it/them out... and clean up afterwards
2: Demand cargo/ship or threaten to take them out (gang required here no doubt!)
3: Shoot 'em up and then demand ransom to not kill em outright (is this 'ethical' on Eve and assuming that they do pay up keep on doing this to an assorted bunch of ships/Corps etc (within reason)
4: Inflitrate a noob corp gain the trust and then be allowed access to certain levels to allow me/the gang to take it out from the inside and split the rewards after..! hehehehe

Would be nice to know if there is some kind of Pirate ettiquette in use.. also where would be a decent place to start on the pirate trail and also what Corps would be worth going to as well as what systems/regions. I think that at present anything below 0.4 would be troublesome for me at present.. been nipping in/out of 0.0 bloody quickly at present, not hanging about too long while I pick up whatever is needed in those regions... Not quite the 'Big Boy/Man' to outstay my welcome in those regions just yet!!

Would be nice to know what your thoughts are on the above...
I'm generally on most days from about noontime, dependant on what I need to do (eating/drinking/taking a dump etc.... those are my downtimes.......! lmaoooo. Then offline at about 8pm, I have to stop then as I work shift and need to kip!! (up at 4am to start at 5am)
Hope this hasn't been too long for you all, but it beats logging on a few times to give all the above info..

So it's "Happy podding" If thats the phrase to use.......! lmaooo

yeah i am sick or my corp's carebear mining.
me and another corp memeber are planning a surprise for them....
take them out on a mining op. drop a warp distruptor right in the middle of them so they can't warp and then kill them all....
then we get the hell out of dodge.
