First explosive night of Piracy

This was the first time I had ever become the predator. I found that I enjoy the satisfying sound of a ship exploding and the plaintive cries of those whom I have taken from. After a deep breath I outfitted my Rifter with some autocannons and a cheap scrambler and set out on the hunt. After traveling through many lowsec systems, (and one sniper that popped my little ship in 2 hits) I finally found a system that proved to be lucky.

I entered the system expecting to yet again be greeted with an empty local channel. Instead I found a gentleman by the name of Agraviar. Looking at his info I found that he was a member of a mining corporation. Both of these things looked to be good signs. Moving to one of the planets I clicked on my scanner to see what sort of ship he might have been flying. I narrowed him down to an asteroid belt near the star in the system and saw that he was flying a mining cruiser. I was getting ready to swoop in on him and get the kill when luckly I randomly check the scanner again. It seemed that he had noticed me entering the system and had run to the station and got out a Cyclone Battlecruiser. Now I believe my little Rifter can take many ships down, but I did not want to try and sink my teeth in a ship as large as a battlecruiser just yet. Instead I sat around the system figuring that sooner or later her would get used to my presence and bring out his mining ship again. I was right it seemed since about 10 minutes later I see that he is back out in the belt mining. I secretly congratulate myself and figure I am in for an easy kill. I warp into the belt ready to destroy him and take his loot. Well as I warp in I see him warping out. Crap…. I think to myself, now he will know that I am probably a pirate after his stuff. I warp within 100km of the station in the system to confirm the cyclone make its way out. Much to my surprise I see him undock with a Mammoth. I think to myself there is no possible way that he will fly to that belt. He must know I am here. Sure enough I see his ship warp right past me in the direction of the belt. Laughing to myself at my luck I quickly warp in after him.

As I warp in I see him 20km away chugging toward a cargo container as fast as a beached whale. The thought pops into my head that he can still get away since all I have is a warp scrambler that works at 7,500 km. My char does not have the skills for an MWD so all I could do is watch helplessly as my little ship made its way toward him at 700 or so m/s. Finally I make it to him and lock him down. Circling at 500m my guns make short work of his shields. In my excitement(and my lack of knowledge of industrial ship prices) I ask for something like 5 mil in local which he of course refuses. I continue to shoot his ship and am greeting by the satisfying blue glow of an explosion. Sifting through the loot I found three cargo expanders that were worth about 1 to 1.5 mil each. After that I was glad I did not ask for a reasonable ransom since I would not have gotten this wonderful loot that will certainly buy me even more rifters to take into battle.

As my first pirate kill I have found that I hunger for more of the such. After the kill it was hard for me to even think how I could ever have gone the carebear route in eve.
