My life as a pirate so far

I've been pirating for a few weeks now, and as I have finally lost my first ship to it I figured it's about time I write down my experiences so far.

My story starts with me falling asleep at my keyboard while I'm mining omber in my brutix. (it's a 0.5 system, so no, I don't get shot by a pirate!) I've just set up a new corp and I'm in the process of building up a stockpile of resources ready to get the corp making ISK.

Nobody in my corp is online (only 3 members) so I open CEO chat and talk to some of the guys in there. It was at this time that I met the person who made me into a pirate - Sir Perigrin.

If any of you have been in CEO chat you might have met him - And he will have forced you to wear a condom on your head so that his capitalist views don't penetrate your mind. Anyway, after some chatting with him we go into a private convo and he tells me what he does for a living - spying on people for ISK.

Well, a few days later I get contacted by another person from the CEO channel. This guy, who remains anonymous, invites me into a society of like minded people he has set up (not a corp - just a channel, where we can help each other with our goals). It turns out that perigrin is also in this channel.

Now my new corp is really not doing very well at this time. This is simply because I can't be on EVE enough to run it effectively. So what happens? I disband the corp and join perigrins. (It's a bit more complex, but I'm keeping it short and simple)

After a few days in his corp it is clear that my condom-on-head has failed, for he has convinced me that I should go into a life a crime. So when I see a brutix mining in a belt in the 0.4 system where my ex corp hq had been I just think to myself "what the heck" About 2 mins later I find myself 10mill up after a successful ransom. But boy, was I shaking - I mean physically shaking, so much so I had to leave my pc for about 10 mins to recover (this had been my first experience of pvp - I used to be mainly a mission runner).

Well after about a week I've got another ransom worth 3mill, and 3 ship kills to my name. But the system I'm in is far too quiet. So 4 days ago I made 22 jumps to another 0.4 system. And boy was it worth it.

Within 10mins of being there I had ransomed 2 ships and made 11mill :D ... and then the next day I made my first pod kill! Here's the kill-mail:

But then yesterday I realised what my new job was really like... There was Rupture mining in one of the belts, and so I went in for it... Landed about 20km away, but by the time I got within scrambling range (7.5km scramble) he had warped out... And in comes a guy in a Deimos. Well, after quite a lengthy fight my tank finally succumbs to it, and I go down fighting. Here is the kill-mail of that fight:

And there we have it. I've got my replacement ship and setup all ready, and still got plenty left in the wallet. Also the guy in the Deimos convoed me after, and after thanking each other for a good clean fight he told me what his setup was... And I think I've found a way I can survive against him if he comes and does it again!

So to conclude I can say I'm really enjoying my time as a pirate, but if one of my ex CEOs puts another bounty on my head I am going to scream!
