After making some kills in previous days, and one successful ransom, I gear up my rifter and set out to look for more fun. After passing through many different systems I find one where earlier in the day I had heard some people speaking in local that there was a lot of good mining opportunities. I spend some time scanning around and find a Bestower in one of the belts. Thinking about how much enjoyment I would take from that kill I warily look at local. I had seen some cruisers and some t2 ships around the system. Thoughts flashed into my head of me attacking the miner only to be quickly destroyed by arriving corp mates.
After spending some time watching the scanner trying to make up my mind, a silver lining appears in the black cloud of indecision. I see that Shilara has been naming her cargo containers. After waiting for her to warp away(going to unload I am guessing) I warp into the belt. I see that Shilara was being smart and has her can about 70km from the warp in point. I quickly fly to the can and bookmark it and then warp back to my scanning location. In a few minutes I see her warp back with her hauler again. I warp to the can and land 14km away from here. She notices me quickly and starts to align for warp, but the ship is too slow. I lock her down right when she is about to escape and begin to tear her ship apart.
Time slowly tick by and my guns slowly get through her armor. Looking at local I figure that I will not have time to ransom her ship so I just plan to blow it up and get whatever loot she might be holding. Getting her into structure I notice a troubling sight. Three or so ships have warped to the belt, all of them quite hostile. Luckly for me, due to the fact that for some reason she did not gang with them they were now at the 70km belt warp in point. Eventually I am greeting by the sound and sight of her ship exploding. I lock her pod, but I notice the ships are getting uncomfortably close. I jet to the can and grab everything that looks valuable and warp to my safe spot just as they are starting to get a lock on me. Heart pounding I look at the loot that I have. Only netted maybe another 2 mill or so of expanders, but that will certainly buy me many frigates and maybe help me toward my cruiser in the future.
Local continues to fill up and my scanner is picking up various BS’s and cruisers warping around trying to catch me. I warp to another planet to see if they are near the gate and find that indeed there is a raven and a couple ships guarding the exit. As I align to my Safe Spot I even see a BS jump within 20km of where I am at the planet. I quickly get away and stay at my safe spot. Local chatter is filled with “Lets hunt the Pie.â€
I shrug and since I have various RL things I can do, I wish them all a pleasant afternoon and log to go eat some dinner.
Something I am realizing is that alone, my little rifter has troubles taking out anything but miners. Soon enough I should be able to get into a cruiser, but I am noticing that I would be able to take bigger fish if maybe I had a couple other people to assist in target removal.

Good kill and smart thinking. Although if you have insta's you shoulld be able to get out of a system in a frigate, just not while you're flagged.

TART5 would be happy to have another pilot. Join our public channel if your interested. (TART5Public)
Bah, that one was me. =(
Couldn't you have bookmarked his can from 70km and warped to your safespot?
Hah good stuff in upsetting some of the JUSTY boys :) be careful in thelan though, as you have noticed there is always members about ready to hunt you down.
Oh, and be careful not to get stuck in Rorsins as it's a dead end system ;) I started my pirating career in and around those systems, some juicy targets ;)
Yeah I could have bookmarked the can, but my original intention was to sit there and wait. After a moment of that I decided to warp to my ss and wait untill they started mining again
Indeed they do always seem to be in that system. It is so sad to see so many juicy miners and not be able to attack due to them being protected by t2 ships and the such.
I love those systems, I have gotten most of my kills there.
