Arazus in action!

Azryen·

I got home from work the other day, and had maybe about an hour to play some eve before I had to be some where that evening. After having such a pleasant experiance the previous evening with some old friends pirating in a group of 3, I decided I would go out solo in my thorax. I had just finished training tech II medium blasters, and was eager to try them out.

After fitting my ship, I headed out to Otou and promply started to scan the belts. Not one ship was showing up on my scanner, yet I saw about 11 people in local. A couple of the folks in local were reasonably old characters, some with a year, a few with two years, maybe a few with a couple months... not that this is terribly important, but you will see how relevant this is shortly.

On a side note, I'd like to mention that recently I was browsing eve-pirate.com, and came across an article written by Ander, about how he was in one of those nifty Gallante Recon Ships, and was able to warp scramble from 50KM out! I totally did not know this was possible, and as I already have Caldari Recon Ships trained, it was only the Gallante Cruiser Skill which I needed to train to level 5... or something like that, until I could get one of those freakish warp scrambling ships.

Back to Otou.

I am warping around dreaming dreams of me and my new Arazu and scanning belts, when something happened. I landed upon planet six to do some scanning, when all of a sudden, I saw the typical red flashing we all dread... Someone had either decloaked, or just warped in on me at about 50KM. I thought nothing of it, and not even looking to see what type of ship it was, I quickly warped to a safe spot. At the time, I thought someone had warped in on me... oh how I was wrong!

So I warp to planet three, where I am by my lonesome, yet again, keeping an eye on my scanner, and being wary of all the other pirates lurking in the system... which I still can't seem to pick up on scanner. I hit scan, and there I get a hit. Another thorax, in belt 1. Without thinking... too much, I warp in. I land literally on top of him, and immediately lock and scramble, my drones and blasters tearing into his shields.

Then all of a sudden, something from my dreams came back to haunt me... two Arazus decloak off my port, about 40 clicks out, and yes, they are flashing bright red and scrambling me. I am thinking... "damn, that is so coool!" Really, I was already thinking about how I could do the same thing in a few weeks! How much fun it would be! Oh but wait, I need to get the heck out of here! So these two pirates are tearing into my shield, but it was too late for their friend the Thorax, he was down to his hull, and my new blasters were too much for him. He goes pop.

Now my shields are down and the armor is starting to go, the tank won't hold long with two force recon ships tearing me up... I quickly realign towards planet six, engage the MWD, and I am off at about 1,500 m/s. No time to worry about the drones, or any loot, these guys mean business. As I reached 50 KM away from the hostiles, my armor is still holding, but down to 40%, and the capacitor is running low. Luckily, the pursuers did not plan on me giving them a chase, as I had gotten out of their warp scramble range and engaged the warp drive.

So there you have it.They had use the Thorax as bait to lure me in, decloaked and then scrambled me from 40KM away. exactly what I was dreaming of doing just a few days before, thanks to Ander's story. No one was showing on scanner because their corp mates were all cloaked! Brilliant! I was just so happy to get a kill, and then to get away was just amazing! Any how, I look forward to the coming days when I get my hands on an Arazu... should be a good time.

Call me ignorant, but doesn't a scram screw with the MWD's too? After all they are "warp-drives" of sorts.

fan fiction 4tw :p

I think MWDs work the way ABs do, so they shouldnt be affected by a scram, but a webber.

Why do you think this?

More importantly, which is it...do scrams mess with MWD or don't they?

azryen·

Warp Scramblers only affect your ability to warp. MWDs are only affected by Webbers.

That doesn't seem right. MWD are still "warp-drives," after all. No matter, once I got them webbed, the MWD just makes them a HUGE target. :)
