During the coming weeks I'll be contacting a number of sites to see what their policy says about isk-sale ads on google adsense. I'll also be asking them what strategies they are implementing to decrease the number of isk-sale ads on their google adsense.
To date, we've been in contact with a number of fansites who has adsense and a next to no filtering implemented to prevent isk-sale ads. One of the sites in particular has expressed their concern over the isk-sale ads but says it's impossible to block the isk-sellers. Nonsense, I say. EVE-Pirate.com manages well, so why shouldn't other sites? This site in particular has the adsense ads not only displaying on the top of the page, but on the bottom and in the contentlist. I'd be interested in how much revenues they are making of the isk-sale ads and if they are actually even willing to stop the isk-seller ads.
In the past eve-pirate.com has managed to get 3v3-0ffl1ne.nl (link scrambled to avoid google pagerank syndication) removed from the official fanlisting of eve-online.com when they carried permanent isk-selling ads. To this date they still have these isk-seller ads and remain removed from the fansite listing on eve-online.com and they dont implement any sort of filtering on their multiple adsense banners.
We're actively lobbying to attempt to make CCP implement a stronger policy against isk-sale ads, even with adsense. To date they do not require any filter-list, but why settle for that when it is possible to block using filterlists and eve-pirate.com's own filterlist is one of the most extensive filterlist on the eve-online fansite scene.
EVE-Pirate.com's current stance in the matter is that adsense should have no or next to no isk-ads displaying on our website. We've an active strategy against isk-sales by implementing a bayesian/learning filter which adds more manually and automaticly new links to these isk-seller websites.
We realise that some isk-sellers are able to ge through, but we will block them as soon as possible.

Great post Ander! Normally, you and I would be on opposite sides of the law in EVE, but on this side of reality, we're fighting a common enemy.
I completly agree with you on the AdSense/ISK issue. I've recently reintroduced AdSense ads on my site, and the first thing I did was add filters to remove ISK resellers. It still has not taken effect, but it should not be long. I'm curious though about your filter list. Any possibility you could email it to me so that I could use it on my AdSense account?

Actually you can buy and sell isk legally in EVE as long as you follow the following CCP approved procedure:
I think it doesn't matter, you can buy GTC for cash and sell GTC for ISK. That's CASH -> ISK.
Now if you have a lot of ISK. You can buy a bunch of GTC with your ISK and sell GTC for real cash. That's ISK -> CASH.
Yeah the best way to fight ISK sellers is to advertise that you can buy ISK legally for cheaper if you buy a time code and sell it on the sell order forum. The transaction is approved and protected by CCP.

It'd be nice if there was some way of alerting the universe to such scum and villainy and having their macroships declared freely raidable. Little undercover work would reveal the player names they trade under, though probably not the ones they farm under.

CCP are a bunch of hypocrites IMO. They legitimise isk sales only when its associated with selling gtc.

heh, you have a google ad at the top of this page for ISK sales dummy. Good luck on getting CCP to give a rats ass about isk farmers. They have a few thousand subscriptions who macro mine, and thats alot of money they would lose cancelling the accounts...wont happen. CCP is a bunch of money hungry cheaters that lucked out and made a cool game. I love the game, but the fact is they dont care about the customers.
they autospawn BPO's for BoB and ignore real petitions. I hate the CCP crew, but love the game.
If they dont quit screwing the customers, they will lose fanbase when another better game comes along- which always happens.

GTC'a give players the ability to play the game and never have to pay for it,With RL cash...which is a nice plus...isk sellers/item sellers are only a negitive....
