Being mildly drunk (I was rocking in my chair doing the Sulu Dance, you decide), I was looking on a way to test my new Ruppy in combat.
After some flying back and forth, the evening looked pretty boring. Loads of people in systems, but when ever I started searching, no one to be found in the belts.
However, determined to either test or loose this new ship I was using, I went on, system after system, planet after planet.

A Pirates Puberty

On the way to a new blob on the map, I went past a system that had a person docked the last 3 or 4 times I went past, so I allmost skipped it. However, before rational thought set in, I activated my scanner pretty much on routine.
I was about to jump, but just before I hit 'Jump' I got the scan results: Raven - no mission clutter. From that gate that could mean 2 things: either I scanned him when he was passing (maybe underway to my gate) or he is in the belts close to the gate.
Immediatelly, I set course for the nearby Planet, and started scanning each belt. The first I looked upon had the hit: 2 rats and that same Raven. A quick thought flashed through my mind: 'hmmm, beer' and shortly after that 'A Raven killing crappy rats cant be much of a Battleship pilot'
I warped to the coordinates as fast I could enter the coordinates in my nav computer, and set off.
Out of the warptunnel, it was there: the Raven battleship, in all it's mayesty, torturing small Sansha rodents in the belt, at a mere 35 km away.
Not deterred in any way, I activate my MWD, start the lock, and within seconds, I'm in the magical <20km, also known as 'Scram Range' or 'Party Perimeter' for those in the know.
Being slightly under influence, I let rip my guns at roughly the same instant, the first volleys no more then scratching the shields of this behemoth. I crept closer, without MWD now, in order to get to the optimal range of my mighty 220's, expecting the return fire to be Cruise missile fire. As I didnt see any sign of Energy Vampires directed to me, I thought getting to optimal range with the nose of the 'Blood Raider' pointed towards a planet would be the best course of action.
However, completely unexpected, I found myself under gunfire, as well as fire from Hvy Missiles of various flavors. So, ok, orbitting it is.
I set my orbit range at roughly my optimal, and begin circling.
In order to make me feel more uncomfortable, the Raven now sends out a wing of medium drones as well. Realising this, I remember I have drones as well, and task them to destroy the little mosquitos hurting my beautifull ship. I smile, when I see my small wing of deadly drones rip apart the ones send to hurt me in short order. Even the Sansha ships, still in the belt with us, decide there best chance of survival would be to help me out, and also target the drones send for me and the Raven I notice. The drone threat was neutralised, and I send Satan's little helpers (my drones) on the Raven as well.
Missile after missile keep slamming into my ship, so my shields buckled shortly after. However, my ship was designed and set up with that in mind. With my shield gone, the hits of enemy pilot were resisted better on the armor of the 'Blood Raider'. With my Armor Repairer running, I could probably manage this for a while.
What was more surprising, was that the Ravens Shield by now where close to collapse. 'Could my brand new Cruiser pull this off?' went quickly through my mind.
As the battle raged on, I soon found myself having to reload my guns, thereby giving the enemy time to recover, and more dangerously, my cap was close to breaking by the permanent scrambler and repper use. As I was still circling pretty close to the enemy ship, I decided to switch of the Scrambler, and smash my ship against the enemy vessel. I switched my camera drones on the enemy vessel, and was guessing what he was alligning his ship to.
In the meantime, Suuji responded to my announcements in our Com channels, and asked if he should help. I kindly accepted his offer, and he was on his way.
While I was alternating my scrambler with my repper in order to stay alive, and keep the target in place, I noticed I wasnt the only one struggling. The Raven was now going into armor, and it's been a while since I saw the flickering of his Shield Booster emenating from his ship.
My mistified mind went through several chains of thought: 'How long will my structure hold?' 'Would help come in time to finish the enemy off?' but also: 'would I be able to kill this Raven solo?'
With me alternating between my repper and my scrambler, sacrificing part of my hull in order to keep the target there, I could see him breaking apart under my fire. And then, just at the moment help arrived in system, I could see a very satisfying explosion filling my screen. In wild drunk exctacy, I proclaimed in our comm channels: 'LOL'.

It sure isnt a veteran corp yet, but as the title said: We reached puberty. Parents in EVE, be affraid. Lock up your daughters and your liquor cabinet, 'cause Sanguine is comming to take them.
