Heh First eve-pirate post jitters.
Where to start, well basically I have been playing on and off since eve closed beta, but after an extended break from the game I came back to the unique world of eve just after the bloodlines expansion.
New start, new character. Went with a combat specialisation because my previous incarnation was a ratting, mining type very un pvp but still did a little gang stuff but nothing huge.
Well here I am at a point where I have some cash, got some basic skills and made the choice to run in the shadows of eve, after spending a couple of days setting up base and scanning around some of the .4 systems I find a system which has a nice chuck of belts and people ratting.
I break out in my merlin and go for a blast, scan down a Ferox ratting. Following him on the scanner through a couple of empty belts and then an oppotunity appears, two NPC cruisers. I figure, what the hell it is only a merlin the worse can happen is that I get smashed and learn some lessons.
I warp in and land a nice 11Km from my target. AB on, rip up to him and web / scam, OPEN FIRE!! - his shields are dropping and he hasnt even started targeting me - this is good.

Rest of story in extended body.
Get him just into armor and then locked, he opens fire and ouch - light missles... damn it wasnt expecting that from a BC - needless to say I have to bail fairly smartish.
Oh well lesson learned - sort of. I boost back to full shield and recharge. Find him again at the next belt and scream in again.
This time I thought I would have him - shields gone and no return lock, but out comes his party piece - a covert ops drone ship, within seconds I realise trouble is coming, I am scamed and have 5 drones scream at me.
Some furious clicking and I manage to just squeeze out of range of the scam and get out with 45% structure left.
Repair up clear timer and call it a day.
The next day I fit out a caracal and go for a spin looking for some more ratters. Today is a good day, spot a caracal going through the belts squencially, figure he will keep going I jump to the next planet in the list and scan out a belt with some rats in it, he is also picking up loot in the belt prior to this one. I wait till he grabs the last can and warp to the next belt. Position myself a nice 5000K from the 15Km warp in point, the NPC's lock and start firing at me, no biggy couple of destroyers.
In comes my possible victim, being the nice guy he is he locks and starts taking down the NPC's - mean while I am positioning myself in a nice orbit around him, 2nd pirate almost down and start the lock - web'd and scam him. Open FIRE! full salvo of heavy missiles. They slam him pretty hard knocking him to half shields straight away.
What happened next caught me off guard. I am web'd and scam'd back, this could get nasty - we are exchanging salvo's of heavies, but mine are hitting just that little bit harder - my tank is failing fairly fast but I have him in armor well before my shields give out. Now the missiles are hurting on that nice shiny low resist armor :) - I cut through him fast, only two salvos and his pod pop's out of the flaming wreck of a ship.
Now I was going to ransom but there was no way I could out live his barrage of missiles long enough to strike up a convo. I lock his pop after giving him a couple of seconds to warp out, nope still not moving - well scam him and figure - nope, no witnesses! *squelsh* mmm fresh pop juice.
The rush from the kill gave me the biggest rush I have had for a long time. I breathed in the victory and let my heart cool down a bit.
Collected his loot and made a couple of mill from some low end named lauchers.
And thus a new pirate was born - with a grin and a scream into the world of the dark side.

Good work ! Being a new pirate can be hard at times, but is definately the most fun way of playing.
Hmm, just realised my mistake. I've always tried to SCRAM people, all this time should have been SCAMing them apparently haha
