The suicidal one...

Minith Jin·

Whilst hunting around essence and verge-vendor with a corp mate, we scanned down a celestis on a mission. I decided it would do no harm to try and gang-invite him. After a few seconds he accepted and we warped to him, whilst chatting to him about ratting and missioning (he never seemed to realise we were pirates =/). We arrived at the mission zone and had to go through two warp gates before we found him at just under 20km. We quickly had him webbed and scrammed and moved in for the kill. With 3 points on him he wasn't going anywhere and he soon went boom. We caught the pod too and squished that also.

We continued to travel around essence for a bit, not finding anything, before heading back to the more promising Verge-Vendor. Another corp mate joined us in a crow at this point, and we soon found an enyo in a syatem. After chasing him fruitlessly for a while we decided to again try the gang-invite-tactic. Again (I sometimes wonder what these people think =/) he accepted. This guy was slightly smarter though and stayed to the gates and stations. Then my intie mate thought of the idea of gang-warping him to a safe spot and ganking him there. And so I did and it worked a charm. On arriving at the safe he was immediately set upon by us. His tank took some torment but he quickly fell, the pod followed shortly after.

Whilst we were hunting him, we noticed a thorax and a zealot in the sys, and the characters were in the same corp, the thorax pilot an '04 player and the zelot pilot almost exactly 1 year old. They had clearly set a trap for us, the thorax sat temptingly alone in a belt, whilst we were at our safe. We all agreed it would be worth our while if we managed to gank the rax as quick as possible then turn on the HAC, we felt we could do it. Any experienced players may at this point either laugh out loud or vomit all over the place at our stupidity... but we were already high on adrenaline from the kill bafore, we weren't really thinking clearly. Things went wrong from the start: I warped only myself and not the gang, a mistake I make dreadfully often, however my corp mates soon arrived at the scene. The rax locked me immediately on arrival, and unleashed his hoard of t2 hammerheads. With my shield gone in seconds, my armor tank held extremely well against them (mallers ftw), and we quickly took the rax's shield and were working on his mean tank when the zealot appeared. Having not discussed this happening, the inty and frigate warped out, leaving me to the dual torment of the zealot and the rax. My tank stood against them for almost a minute, before finally falling as my friends warped back in after agreeing to aid me. I escaped in my pod, however the other 2 found themselves scrambled and soon popped also.

All in all around 30mill of ships were lost, aswell as around 6mill of loot from the enyo. I only thought afterwards that I should have dumped it first, and that our desicion was infact very suicidal (the adrenaline rush soon faded).

After this event (and my title as "Most Suicidal Member" on the Ore Mongers killboard) I dubbed myself "The suicidal one" and had my Corp title changed accorindgly :)

Keirez·

Crap happens when you're out poddin people for no reason.

Cutie Anja·

No respect for your lame pirating technique. Glad you guys got popped :)

At least hopefully he learned his lesson not to just blindly trust anyone and do a show info on anyone who invites him.

Shit happens mate, don't be discuraged by carebears like Keirez and Cutie Anja.If you don't risk it, yo get no fun.So i respect you for that.Just don't do it in a faction ship or something.:D

Hehe, that's what I thought when I read them :) And I agree about the risk thing, just sometimes I don't really think about it enough =/

Cutie Anja·

Not talking about the risk for going after the Rax and Zealot. I was talking about inviting a newbie frigate pilot who's doing a mission, sweettalking him to try and avoid suspicion and then blowing him up. It's not exactly an accomplishment I'd go to Eve Pirate for so I can brag about it. But that might be just me.

There's just no sport in that from what I can see. Granted, he needed to learn to be more suspicious, but it's still pretty lame.

Newbie Cruiser, I mean ... Never flew the thing myself as I went for the Vexor/Thorax myself.

And it's not a huge achievement, this post is mainly about the suicice... hence the tital :P

Bollocks. It's a role-playing game.
Deception is a valid part of being a criminal.
The fact that those victims fell to deception is both a tribute to Minith's (in game) criminal ability, and the victims own lack of wits and survival instinct.
