A corpmate messaged me and
tipped me off about a mining
operation in a system. I went there
with my ceptor and upon entering the system I see one of the miners say "inbound" in local.
A cat & rat chase starts but I finaly catches the iteron trying
to save the ore from their mining operation.
The escort was a Thorax which
quickly fled.
No good loot and the pilot of the
iteron was less than a month old. So
I let them keep the drops of the
lootcan, their ore and the giant secure containers which werent anchored.
I also decided to be nice and funded him for a new iteron.
Heck, one day this guy might actually
have something worth looting! It aint
worth killing carebears who are poor.
Now. A few minutes later we caught
another mining operation. Two
ospreys semi-afk. This time I
had backup and we tried to ransom both ospreys.
Then suddenly one Scorpion warps in where off we
kill the osprey to go for the bigger target.
He soon found himself in a tough situation,
scrammed and getting hammered.
Our squad consisted of an assault-frig, a cruiser and my little ceptor.

We decided to ransom this uninsured
(corp provided Battleship from CANON)
belonging to Corn Meal for 40million
isk. It was a fair ransom. He said he
didnt have the money so he'd ask
his ceo. I also offered to buy the
scorpion for 40mill isk if nobody
would pay. Too bad he didn't take up
on the offer. Instead he tried to
log-off.
A while later the CEO of the corp convoed me
and asked if I had podded him.
Asking why we had killed a "noob". I
explained my view and our fair offer.
Plus that he tried to pull log-off
tactics.
A few more minutes pass, I close the
conversation. No use continuing the
discussion.
The Scorpion pilot then logs-in and
claims his buddy "The Dizmo" (also
the pilot of the osprey I killed) had
came in (IRL) and pulled his
connection.
Right... fair enough, I just wonder
why the hell carebears complain
about us killing them when we try to
ransom, offer to buy out. Heck, I think
we were quite fair for being ebil
pirates.
Take the hint!
DO NOT ACT LIKE IDIOTS AND THEN WHINE ABOUT GETTING KILLED.
If you mine in a low sec system and see pirates. Run!
If you get caught. Dont try to wriggle yourself out of the ransom.
Even if you are in a bad position you can always save the day (somewhat).

Well, after looking at the killmail, if this guy had half a brain he would have owned us. He had heavy launchers on him, some light neutrons, large smartbombs and drones. IF he scrammed me (enyo) and quickly activated his large smartbomb(s) and then hit me with drones; the 8 heavy drones from the thorax would have popped and i prob. would have ben done for, while this happening spamming the thorax with heavy missiles. Lucky us i suppose. Although luck Is part of the game :)
