Kid's Got Moxie

Badlanders·
I'm out stalking The Citadel down around Tasen way. Lately there's been a lot of small-scale mining operations going; lone barges mining to unsecure cans. I swipe some ore. I'm a bad man. The majority of these mining ops are the type you see now and again: Starter corporations. Players a month or so old flying kitted out barges with strip miners. I had a barge once with two strip minters on it, but it sure as Hell wasn't when I was a month and change old. I buzz back and forth across the belts in perhaps three systems. I help myself on occasion to these unsecured containers, filling the Mark II's belly to the brim. The most recent one: a Procurer with a few drones lazily circling it. The little bastard locks me as I align, but I'm gone long before the drones close to range. I dock and unload my booty and head back out. I look in chat: XXXXXXXXXX > There's a reason God made secure cans. EVE System > Channel changed to YYYYYYY Local Channel serius business > Anyone see XXXXXXXXXX around? As the undocking completes and the Badger is shat back into space I look and here he is right outside my station. The HUD has him flashing all angy red but now there's something decidedly wrong: He doesn't seem to have any drones. In his haste to chase me it seems he forgot to scoop them to the drone bay. His marker was still hot, though, for having engaged me in the belt Taken aback and wondering if he had some trick up his sleeve I quickly pull the Badger about and dock. Flapjack, my trusty Kestrel, is a much better fit for this situation. Undocking he's still there; still flashing red. It's short; it's sweet. He pops. He doesn't move his pod to the station (all of 200km away).> XXXXXXXXXX > Just go. XXXXXXXXXX > I'm not podding you; just go. I dock. He docks. I convo him. XXXXXXXXXX > So, mon; what were you thinking? XXXXXXXXXX > You're in your barge and you lock me? serius business > I've been playing for a week, what do I know? :p XXXXXXXXXX > Playing for a week? In that ship? Doubtful. XXXXXXXXXX > Almost three weeks. :) XXXXXXXXXX > Still, though, not a wise move. You had rights but you were outgunned. Even in my industrial you had no chance. serius business > Thanks for pointing out my mistake though, I wan't make it again ;) XXXXXXXXXX > Yeah. If you're in a ship with no good offense don't lock someone. serius business > Yeah. I only locked 'cause I wanted to keep tabs on where you were. In retrospect, it was dumb as hell :p XXXXXXXXXX > If someone steals your ore and you can't defend it or yourself, just let it go.
It's too expensive to replace the ship and the miners, though I'm betting you'll have another soon enough. The kid's been around since 20060904, making him only 18 days old. Checking the market the best price for a procurer is 1.65mil and the strip miner he lost cost 2.93mil; so unless this kid is really good with his money, he's onto something. 2006.09.22 04:32 Victim: serius business Alliance: NONE Corp: School of Applied Knowledge Destroyed: Procurer System: Haatomo Security: 0.6 Involved parties: Name: XXXXXXXXXX (laid the final blow) Security: 0.0 Alliance: NONE Corp: State War Academy Ship: Kestrel Weapon: Sabretooth Light Missile Name: Guristas Plunderer / Guristas Destroyed items: Strip Miner I Azure Plagioclase, Qty: 2857 (Cargo) Cleared for publication by: Ander

Bad Wiggy·

Oh, hell no it's not my in-game name.

Leaving the system n the kill mail was a bit of an oversite, though, but I move around enough to not worry too much about it.
