Back in the saddle.....Hi Ho Smacktalk!

So the war begins. Not much happens as usual. One of my guys runs across a REDMI (their corp call sign) player and pop him. First blood was ours. It was only a n00b ship though. :( Things look like they might be picking up though. Our network starts feeding us intel. One guy flies a Crow, one is in an Apoc, one is in a Megathron, another is in a Dominix with another one in a Brutix. This definitely could be a fun war. The following day I log in to see a email from a corp member. Looks like we downed a Brutix of theirs with no loss to us. No major loot, just a nice clean kill. The next day was uneventful. My guys ended up station camping a few of them for a few hours. No action was to be had that day. Now it's Saturday and we're 2 days into this war. I am bored and alone as no one else from my corp is online. Then I see some names pop up. Not corpmates, but war targets. I set sail for adventure and undock and head to their HQ. A friend sends me a picture of what I am up against......a Dominix...with quite an unorthodox setup........ Let's see....he's shield tanking, and armor tanking a Domi, and also using lasers? And people make fun of my setups? :) I find him at his station. He expects me to engage him immediately. He was wrong. I was dealing with some stuff in RL so I just docked/undocked a bit since I couldn't fight at that very moment. Then, the smack talk begins........ Finally I can put RL matters aside and get down to some pvp action. I undock and am ready to go toe to toe. I notice however another corpmate of his enters the system in a Brutix. I figure what the hell. I will give it a go. I undock and proceed to do the deed........ Things are looking good. I am surprised the Brutix pilot hasn't undocked to join the fray. A few seconds pass and he undocks........in a shuttle! Notice this guy isn't even hurting me. I am holding at full armor basically and he is about toasted. Meanwhile his corpmate just sits and watches in the shuttle the entire fight. It looks like one of their members knows how to fit a ship...... Looks like someone is gonna go a sniping. I am surprised such a young pilot would fit such high end gear on a ship like that. Especially in high sec space. I am looking foward to popping a ship like that with all those goodies fitted. But it wasn't happening that night. So the next day I log in and see Amethyst is out and about. This time they're in a Megathron. Once again we both undock and start pounding on each other. This time they got ECM fitted and are jamming me up the wazoo. Ever since that last big patch I have been beseiged by lag. That day was especially horrible. It was so bad when they jammed me, it didn't show the jamming bar and my mods would start flashing a minute after I clicked them. It didn't matter though. He didn't stick around for the fight. As I had him in structure and about to pop he scored another jam and warped on out. Oh well. I am tired and decide to log for a while. I come back a few hours later and see that Amethyst is in Goni again and there is another mate of theirs there as well. This time I have my Thorax. I undock and Amethyst is in her Megathron and Tarlesin is in a Vengeance. As I decide if I should engage or not, in logs Harddirve as Sucinodras enters the system. 4 vs 1. This could be good, but as it happens some of my guys log on and head out to Goni. Now it's their 4 vs our 3. We had 2 BS and a AF, they had 2 BS, AF, and a Maller. We engage. The Megathron docks and their Vengeance warps out. So we huddle around the station campfire and wait a bit. I decide to convo Amethyst and ask if they would like to surrender. I get the usual excuses. "We can't afford it", "We're poor miners" , "We are just poor noobs", "We cant trust you, if we pay, you will screw us over" etc etc. I try to explain it's bad for business to not honor ransoms and war dec surrender offers. He doesn't care. I tell him fine, don't pay, we will just pop Harddirve's faction fitted Apoc and that will get us some decent cash. He doesn't seem to care. Just as we are mid conversation, Harddirve undocks! We engage, and to our amazement he fires back. No redocking for this chap. Only a nice pod trip. We got his pod too. As he pops the rest of them undock. I wonder if the lag that plagued me before had got to them as well. I think it was just inexperience as Harddirve didn't even bother to switch to a close range pvp setup, he kept his sniping fittings. Go figure. So now with the other 3 undocked as well, the sparks start flying....... We snagged a few pods and all their loots........ In the end we wound up with about 100mil in loots and they paid the surrender demand. I gotta give them credit for undocking like that and duking it out. They didn't smacktalk after that battle or before it so that was nice too. It was a short war but a fun and profitable one nonetheless.
