Cracking that whip...

Gray Carmicheal·
So, my first post on EVE-P. \o/ Anyway, to the story. I was floating about space yesterday looking for targets when I find a Covetor in 0.4 space. In my home system no less. Nearly crapping myself, I scan it out in less than 5 minutes. Warping in, my badly fitted Gategank Ferox has it scrammed in seconds. And I get convoed in seconds. I won't post the log for privacy, but the leader of this little 3 noob mining ops wanted to pay up. I gave them the price of 25 million, a number I just rattled off my head, but they couldn't match that. So I looked at the cargos. Jaspet, and a decent amount. Then a lightbulb went off above my head. And I negotiated a deal involving me making 30% of whatever they pulled in. They accepted it, and even wanted to negotiate more permanent protection costs. My head was spinning from the dizzying effect that "true" piracy was having. I mean, it's only been the second ransom in all my pirating in EVE, which is the better part of a year now. So I sat there, Covetor locked as they slaved away. A few of the other WoR guys who were bored warped in just to babysit at times too. And it was all in all a really good time. The guys in this mining op turned out to be fresh green faces, and I gave them props for having the balls to head out to 0.4 after having "just started" really. The Covetor pilot had been in game for a while, probably an alt or he just came back from a break. And they were talkative, asking us for info and teaching them stuff. At one point, They didn't even try to run as I warped out to change ships or even when we were playing around testing my probing abilities. These guys totally honored their side of the deal. Now, some may ask why I didn't just destroy the cov and take the strips? Well, I did the math, and having them repeatedly pay me protection money even 2-3 days a week would beat the crap outta the 10-12mil I'd get for Strip Miner Is x3 (possible) after it popped. And yes, I did have a buddy secretly scan it to be sure it was t1. So in the end, I made out with a crappy ransom, for now. But that isn't what matters. I GOT the ransom. I wasn't hurting for cash there, it was just nice to get the ransom. And the leader says he'll be setting up daily contracts or so for me. Do I take it as gold? Nah, I don't believe it til I see it, but here's to whatever. Here's some pictures of my Ishkur making the Covetor and a mining Vexor mine in "shackles". And normally, my writing doesn't suck this bad. Promise. Cleared for publication by: Ander - please do not use other hostingservices than EVE-Pirate to host your images you publish with your story. Good story there. I like how you are helping new players in a piratey way.
