So, after downtime was over I logged in and went to Pakhshi - I figured, hey, what the hell - I'll go annoy miners in this shiny new catalyst!
So I spend some time bumping miners out of position as they try to align to escape the mighty rats of 0.8 space. They always escape, but I always enjoy doing it anyway because I'm sick in the head or something and think screwing up their operations can be fun as well as profitable.
So I find this barge on scanner driven by some chap named T-. Alas, it is not to be! A tale of much woe and sadness follows!

Catalyst
There is a mad dash for the Pyroxeres globs floating in the belts since Pyrox contains Nocxium if you mine it with the right equipment.
I zip on over there and steal his ore and put it in a jetcan of my own. I bookmark the can and leave the 11k or so in it when a rat shows up to shoot him. I return a few moments later and he's jetted 25K more which also goes into my can. He leaves for the only station in the system and I destroy the can with the neutron powerhouse that is the suicide Catalyst.
So I warp around for a while looking for other targets. I find one - T-'s Wolf, a Maatari Assault Frigate on par with the Enyo and about 4 million ISK more expensive.
I decide "Hey, what the hell!" and park in front of the landing ramp at the station to wait for him, since he's likely out for vengeance against my poor poor catalyst.
Hell, I was right!
So I get attacked by this Mataari Assault frigate. Needless to say I don't stand a chance as I've nothing but Magnetic Field Stabilizer Is and Light Neutron Blaster Is fitted. I can't touch him since he's out of blaster range and he's blowing my armor off like dandelion heads, so I figure maybe I can get him to follow me to a gate where the dice may roll in my favor.
I warp to the Oursulaert gate and sit. He appears to be following on the scanner so I activate all 8 blasters and sit ready to target. He lands RIGHT THE FUCK on top of my catalyst. I open up with all the blasters at point blank range and the Wolf dissolves in 15 seconds or so. I imagine the last thing he saw was the Catalyst flying in circles around his Tech II assault ship! Poor bastard.
So I killed a 15M assault frigate with a crappy suicide Catalyst. I netted enough loot to pay for the ship, insurance, fittings 5 times over at least.

Nice one :D
Nice one, the Wolf actually could have ripped you a new one if it had been properly fitted.
Start annoying macro-miners, they've started to actually fit well and fight well.
Plus, you will be improving eve. :)
How can you spot a Macro-miner?
I normally go by age and standings. If they've got no standings at all other than their school's initial NPC agent you've got a likely winner - assuming they're not a kid and have been around for a while.
This sometimes nets real miners as well, but you've got to let the dice roll as they may.
Do macros ever talk back when you convo them?
A few times, but nothing comprehensible. I've always found it better to fire and forget.
non-macro miners will normally say something in local if you steal their ore, or you can convo them after you steal their ore and ask if they are a farmer or not. Not a whole lot of Macro's around anymore, just Farmers that have 1 person control a small army of accounts.
