From Noob to Pirate…. We’re not all seasoned pilots

SO....
Doing my usual scum of the earth mining technique.... can transferring, with the intention of the normal, duel/ransom/kill/chat depends on how I feel and the other party’s reaction (death to people that smack talk!!). I start realizing, I am getting no reaction from this miner. Well, no fight here.... So I leave my can, move to next belt. Again, another miner... all droned up, and filling his can. With out a thought I warp back straight to his can do my checks (name of miner, age, employment etc/name of can(!)/check corp) all good, so drop a can and fill up. This mining is hard work! It really is when you get no reaction!! So on my way to next belt, it’s a little empty here, warp on... another miner :) this is a good day... but I can't jet my can (it really has been that recent since the last drop). I wait for a min.... drop and fill.

Starting to get the impression no one cares around here. Good place to do some easy mining, but not for any pvp action.... oh well my killboard entries not going happen tonight. I figure... hey still time.

Realizing I got time before I need to move on to a new belt (have to wait the timer out to jet another can), I jump back to check on my others.... still there, and they are still mining!! Ok, we might have a macro here or someone is AFK, silly silly mistake to leave while mining.. or? I fill up again. And realize my can is full! Yeah I am in the money tonight! I give a quick call for cargo haulers in the corp, everyone is busy... well, this means I wont be adding to the killboard :( as I will be hauling myself for the rest of night with all this ore :) Move on to the next can I dropped... yep, I have 3 out already on 3 belts...

I continue on a few more belts, and again more miners... in all I laid 5 cans in system with 9 belts... and no one reacting! And all cans filling up nicely. Someone’s got them selves a macro farm running here.. or its just a Mecca for macros.


Ok... so opinion on macros..... If you find a pirate ore mining from other miners, they can be called scum, lowlife, the smalls of 'decent' pirate behavior... go back to low sec or 0.0.. bla bla bla... I am going to get there one day, but I need to learn the ways, and when you are a youngling to this brotherhood money is hard work! We are poor and likely to loose against the older pilots, even those old time miners. So we have to start somewhere... you'll see me in a low sec system chasing you down soon.... but not yet, not yet! However low I am, I do take a step up from macros. Now that’s not playing the game! You don't sit there putting the time in, interacting with the game.... with other pilots. You set up some program to do it for you. Well if you want to it it’s your own choice... but as an empire pirate I will help myself thank you very much!


Continuing... on with my belt harvesting (As that what it felt like) making the occasional stop to fill my cans, knowing now all the miners have to be macros. So it’s a free for all. Hey, I guess I am prepared for a pirate to steal, but that means a kill or at least a good fight.

Warping in to my first can I notice some activity, there are a few people hanging around.... so I watch, and wait for someone’s sticky figures to swipe my hard earned ore. I also notice this pilot, he blasted me the day before (that was unusual, as I hadn't committed a crime against him so he shouldn't have had kill rights on me... me in a Thorax him in a Raven, us both only a few months old... its all about set up, and I simply don't have the skills yet to fight a good setup on a Raven in my trusty Thorax. Plus, before I had chance to turn on my amour tanking and fire a shot, I was looking at my pod (and how good it looks too:) he popped me and I just didn’t understand, I just got on with it slightly confused) Today I watch... and see the Raven approaching, hmmm.... I know for sure he hasn't got kill rights on me; every can I have mined from was dropped by a pilot in a game corp.

Bang... Pop!!!

er..... wtf! How, what, when, if.... no.... you are joking!!! I am sitting there looking at my pod. He did it again! And as with the day before, no warning, no talk, nothing just POW. I am feeling really stupid and a real noob again. But I just don't get it. I sit waiting for the concord, and waiting... this is 0.8 they should be here by now. Er, hello... CCP!!!

Still a little confused, I hold my tongue.... how I want to smack talk him, tell him I think he's a real f**ker, what’s his game, how, how damn it have you done this twice to me!!! Why are you getting away with popping me with out rights? It takes ages to get any money in a bloody thorax... and the little tech II stuff I have costs more than that ship (ok fully insured.. but not my gear!!!!). Ok.. just a game... just a game.... but try saying that when the scum hasn't even talked to you... and I am not going to give him the pleasure of me making the first step to talking.. I might not have been able to hold my SMACK!

I think, and sit for a while... my corp get a load of grief, just cause I need to say something to someone. "you must have agro'ed him" "you just prob don't realize it...." yeah, you are talking to a 2 monther who has just developed a chip on his shoulder about been young still and been reminded of that fact by been popped.... (not normally but right now... i'd say more like a gap missing were the should shoulder be!).

Then I realize... this pirate... cause I can only assume that is what he is.... is doing a protection racket lording over his macro mining farm... the corp is 2 months, the macros are 2 months, he is 2 months.... Did I really do a good enough check on the can…. I just don’t remember :/

NOW.... how low can one go!

So.... I may loose a lot over the next few days... weeks... but now there are targets for these macro miners!



as a foot note.... the other pilot who was around and saw me get popped, was sent a message "having a bad day JS?" a bit of banter is good :) later before I logged for the day... I got a priv convo come up, and it was him again... I had just figured it out this whole racket, and he was now scratching his head about what just happened to him.... I look forward to teaming up with him and blasting this corp....
