A little trip

This is my first real story post, so crits appreciated just don’t be nasty about it One fine eve (heheh), myself and two friends decided to set off for a little anti anti pirating so we headed for some local low sec areas. We are known for suicidal tendencies so we decided on only T1 fitted ships (A-because we were probably gonna die and B-because we may have intended to lose (purely so we have a reason to harass everyone from that corp other than being annoying)) I decided on my trusty Tristan as did Friend1 and we made Friend2 take his Thorax. Cleared for publication by: Ander Rest of story moved to extended body.
I fitted; MODAL LIGHT ION PARTICLE ACCELERATOR I MODAL LIGHT ION PARTICLE ACCELERATOR I STANDARD MISSILE LAUNCHER I STANDARD MISSILE LAUNCHER I COLD-GAS I ARCJET THRUSTERS SMALL NEUTRON SATURATION INJECTOR I SMALL BRIEF CAPACITOR OVERCHARGE I BASIC POWER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM SMALL I-A POLARIZED ARMOR REGENERATOR I have no idea what my friends fitted but I know Friend2 had a webber and a scrambler. So anyway we set off for some local low sec areas and made sure we all jumped at the same time (better chance against gate gankers). The first system we hit had 11 belts which we searched one by one, and yet we only found one miner on the 9th belt. As it was the 9th we decided it was time to take a breather and have a little fun, we decided to play with our new miner friend. Me and Friend1 led the attack, burning our way towards Miner. Friend1 got there first and unleashed a deadly rocket and blaster attack before Miner even managed to send out his drones. When I came in 10km of Miner I began firing off my Bloodclaw missiles and watched them trace an arc of fiery death heading straight for Miner. Eventually Miner managed to get his drones out and they began attacking Friend1 who switched targets and started firing on the tiny bits of metal orbiting his ship that was being torn apart by the torrent of little blue plasma pounding at his ship. I decided to help Friend1 and I locked a few of the drones and sent my missiles careening toward them. After what seemed like forever Friend2 appeared 10km behind Miner after having warped away (don’t ask why), and began firing salvo after salvo of rail fire towards Miner (and of course webbing and scrambling him). Finally Friend1 and myself finished off the last of the drones and concentrated solely on Miner. After a very short while of smashing up Miners miner, we managed to get him on roughly 20% structure before convo’ing him and ransoming him Friend1>ok buddy enough of that give us 10mil and we’ll leave you alone Miner>hahahaha 10mil hahahaha Miner>no way you don’t know the mistake you’ve made Me>*sigh* Friend2>that’s what they all say Me>how many buddies in bs’ have you got on the way then? Miner>hahahaha I got buddies on the way in bs’ and there gonna smash you up big time (Surely he didn’t read what I said………right?) Miner>hahahahaha you so boned hahahaha (Seriously what is up with miners laughing all the time when you’re about to kill them, I think they go insane with the fear but maybe not) Friend1>pay now or we’ll pod you Miner>no YOU pay ME and ill call off my friends Me>fine you asked for it I had had enough of his smack so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I began firing my missiles and blasters, and simultaneously Friend1 and Friend2 did the same. One salvo from each of us did the trick and we watched the amazing spectacle as his ship got ripped apart and smashed into tiny pieces under our guns, and as if on cue 2 Domi’s appear not 5km from us! They made the classic schoolboy error of both locking Friend2 and not me or Friend1, so thankfully we just about managed to warp away, although in opposite directions. The wonderful spider webbing of the warped whipped about my ship as I sat back and sighed relief. I opened up gang chat and asked how everyone was. Me>everyone ok? Friend1>yup Friend2>nope Me>dam you got caught? Friend2>could say that Friend2>don’t come back im almost gone Friend1>sure thing Me>to hell with that I don’t leave anyone behind! So yeh whatever im an idiot . I turn my ship around, take a deep breath and warp in to 5km of Friend2. I knew I would lose, of course, but as I mentioned earlier Im rather suicidal. Finally the warp began breaking up around me and I shot out apparently 5km away form my friend. Oh joy. I arrived bout 5m from the nearest Domi. Ahhhh. So with my quick reactions I gathered myself up and began orbiting Domi1 and firing my torrent of missiles and blasters at him, barely making a mark on his powerful shields, but bringing them slowly down none the less. He was still firing at Friend2 who had remarkably survived, but once he realised the minor danger he was in he locked me and started firing his massive railguns my way. Of course, guns this big and long ranged had problems actually hitting my tiny frigate, but even so my shields were down 50% in a very short time. Making the error of forgetting about my shield boosters came back to haunt me as I only remembered them when I had about 10% shields left, so I decided to forget about them and whacked on my armour repairer as he began munching his way through my armour. Friend2 now realised he stood a very small chance of actually surviving, so he stopped running and turned the front of his ship towards the second Domi and began heading back towards it. Im not sure exactly how bad these pilots were, or how unlucky they were, but they must have been pretty bad considering a mere cruiser was standing up to it after having been attacked by both and survived. So to add to the madness and add to our chances Friend1 finally remembered his place and warped back in right on top of Friend2, and began heading towards the other Domi, flying in between the massive lumps of matter being hurled either way by the two ships. Friend1 began closely orbiting the other Domi as I was and started firing his own torrent of rockets and blaster fire. Now, anyone reading this should know of course that 2 T1 frigs and a T1 cruiser shouldn’t stand a chance against 2 battleships, possibly T2 fitted in some places. And yet defying all laws (quite literally) we started beating back the Domi’s. All of a sudden, I was dead! I had been too locked up in the thrill and bravado that I forgot about my cap, till it was too late. He even managed to pod me! Suddenly it didn’t seem that strange to me as I appeared in a cloning vat. Thank god though, I was in a station only 2 jumps away heehee. There may be a chance yet. So I hopped in my lovely dovely T2 fitted Brutix and almost launched before I noticed I had 4 corp members in the station with me! Ahhhhh. So I asked if they would help and yes, they agreed. They were after all heading out ransoming (naturally) So off we headed, me, another Brutix, a Myrmadon, a Ferox and a Caracal. I don’t really need to tell you what happened, but of course I will anyway. We arrived to find Friend2 still alive (haha how bad were these guys!) but only just so we quickly all headed towards the nearest Domi and locked him. It wasn’t even funny how fast that guy went down. In about 1mn he was reduced to cinders by our huge combined mite, and we wasted no time in locking the other and scrambling him. We thought we’d have a little fun with this one, so we webbed him and came to within 100m of him, all surrounding him and pointing ourselves directly at him. He didn’t even bother locking us. (Adding characters, Domi1, Friend3, Friend4, Friend5 and Friend6) Friend5>have you been harassing our friends? Domi1>no (hahahaha the cheek) Domi1>they killed our miner Domi1>you should let me go or else Friend2>*sigh* you really are all the same Domi1>iv got friends 1 system away, if you don’t leave me alone ill call them in Me>go for it Hmm I was sensing some serious de’ja’vous here so I decided to once again take matters into my own hands. I started firing my medium rails, and not wanting to look stupid, my friends joined in. The shear mite of our combined attack tore through his puny cowering shields, and then relentlessly tore through his pathetic excuse for a ship, costing him millions in a matter of seconds. His pod almost escaped but Friend2 was quick on his feet and blew it out of the darkness with one round. You’ll be happy to know that we returned to our respective tasks without trouble and my loss of a Tristan was fully compensated by the loot in his hold. Friend1 did get blown up but escaped in his pod, and Friend2’s Thorax made it through with about 100,000 isk worth of damage. Friends 3,4,5 and 6 were of course, fine. A good day I thought

Nice story. Great gusto and bravado sticking up for your self and your corp mates like that. Then blowing up two domis and a barge to the cost of two T1 frigs is just icing to the cake.

Two questions though:

How did you manage to get podded by a domi? Was he sensor boosted? :D

Why are you shield AND armor tanking your Tristan? Ok, it's a T1 frig, and it probably doesn't matter too much, but you could have fitted for tackling in your mids instead, with a scram, a web and an mwd.

I have found that tanking both shield and armor is basically crap, because you're not going to be very effective at either, and you'll reduce the over all effectiveness of your ship.

Anyway, good story.

My 2 cents indeed...why shield n armor tank?

randompirate·

wow, those domis must have sucked, where were thier drones and nos? great story anyways. too bad you didnt post the kill mails, i think they are one of the best parts of pirating

and as for dual tank, it is truely a bad idea, when you can use the slots from one tank for something eles, altho on a trist, i dont really think it matters, it is a cannon fodder ship after all

keep the bs kills coming, i always love a big explosion

Great story!

Don't want to add to the others - but shield and armour tanking on a frig is bad m'okay? But man, those Domis must have sucked big time....i mean, did they even release any drones? If they did - you probably would have been dead.

Still, locate and post the Kill Mails so we can all have a chuckle.

Great story again, but shield and armor tanking any ship really is not very efficient. On a frig I'd either speed tank or armor tank it, and use the meds for propulsion upgrades and tackling gear.

Killing two domis in exchange for 2 tristans and a pod is definately a worthy tradeoff ;)

There's nothing wrong with armor/shield tanking. While your armor is getting eaten, your shield keeps regenerating itself and it takes the edge off of the armor damage while your armor rep picks that up. It's costly to your cap, but its good for short and intense fights. Frigs etc. not much use on BS and the like.
Excellent story though.

well yeh ok i aint the cleverest of cats but as Sheath said i like to tank both
plus Friend2 had all the EW goodness we needed
yeh no drones to be seen luckily for us and sorry but i make the habit of not keeping killmails (clog up the eve-mail too bad)
