ultimate showdown: thief vs miners

After being inactive for several months, i come back to find out that im a CEO of a corp with 3 other inactive members. I decide take some time to properly disband the corp while looking for new opportunities.
One day i take out my trusty ishkur out for a little spin through low sec in search for targets. Noting really comes up, so i decide to return to my base in highsec. I dont really want to log without starting someting, so i hop around scanning the belts for jetminers. Bingo! A barge and a cruiser are diligently converting asteroids into ore and putting it into a jetcan just for me. Characters dont look too old but not too new either, so this could even turn out be fun.
I jump in, casually slide up to the can, create my own can and move ore into it. I hang around for a moment waiting for reaction, but there is none. Could they be macroers? But macroers usually dont mine with cruisers. Oh well, at least im getting paid. I quickly dock, grab my itty and head out for the belt. As i undock i am greeted by the sight of angry domi outside the station. Looks like ill be getting my fun after all.
I redock, jump into my ishkur again, and head out again only to see that domi is joined by drake now. Without much hesitation both lock and open fire. Not wanting to fight at the station, i warp off to a nearby planet and wait. A moment later domi appears on the overview and couple seconds later drake follows. In a few seconds i am locked and fired upon again. Domi even unleashes five .... ogres?
Starting to feel better about my odds i decide that domi would be too hard to crack no matter how improperly fitted / flown, and head for drake. My drones are out and are starting to chew at his shields. As i close in and open fire, i realize ive made a mistake, as drake has me webbed and scrambled. My shield is gone and my armor is taking a pounding that my cap cannot keep up with for long. Since im not running anywhere i figure i could try to get close enough to latch on my nos on him - might buy me a few seconds.
Another battleship jumps in, and a cruiser follows soon, so now im up against four. By now drakes shield is gone and my drones are now working on his armor. It appears he has set his ship to hold me at about 7k, so im not getting any closer. Things start looking ugly, so i turn on my webber for a cycle or two in attempt to break free of his web. Finally im no longer webbed, so i switch off my guns to save last bits of juice for repper, while im getting out of scrammers range. As im taking hits into structure my ship enters warp. I even manage to save most of my drones.
We make a little chit chat in local - i expect smacking to ensue, but theyre keeping it polite.
I safespot, repair my armor, and figure if i keep my distance it should be relatively safe to check out the situation. Maybe if luck is on my side i can even separate the cruiser from others and get a kill. I head back in, and find my friends are still there. Unfortunately big meanies are between me and cruiser, so i try to circle around them. I have some occasional missile shaking me up, and a glancing hit here and there, but nothing my repper couldnt handle.
At one moment i even see flashing red industrial of some sort jump in, but since hes too far and not a threat i ignore him. Only later i realized that he was not a part of this ganksquad but instead proceeded to loot all the ore from my can and then came to watch the fight. Oh well - easy come, easy go. At least the guy was entertaining in local.
Finally someone wises up and i have a bunch of T2 hobgoblins chasing me. As i start picking them off another battleship jumps in and despite my best efforts starts getting too close for me to feel comfortable. I gather my drones and warp off to repair my hull and rearm.
Even though timer is off i check the battlefield again. Sure enough, rokh and hyperion are still about. Our ore stealing spectator had earlier pointed out that those two had fitted arties and autocannons, so i figure i could try boosting my self esteem a little by going against battleship. I drop a can with bookmark and taunt them hoping for 1v1, but to no avail. Finally one of em drops can of his own. I of course reply that while it was fun i dont really fancy having fight alone against three battleships, battlecruiser and cruiser. They assure me that everyone else has left and noone is coming. Riiight - like im falling for that one. On the other hand - running away is always an option. What the hell, i decide, and snag their can.
In a moment im locked and fired upon yet again. I set close orbit around rokh, let loose my drones and start hammering away. Like i had hoped they have hard time hitting me, and the occasional missile explosion doesnt do much apart from looking pretty. I still have some of my shield, while rokh has lost about a third of his, so he starts up his tank. This goes on for a while, and much to my surprise i seem to be outdamaging his tank, and he warps off when damage starts bleeding over to armor. I honestly hadnt expected to break his tank, so i hadnt even bothered turning on scrambler.
I turn my attention to hyperion, and after taking care of his shield i appear to be overpowering him as well. Meanwhile rokh comes back, congratulates me and threatens to call in others if i dont let hyperion go. Hyperion still has about half of armor left, so i figure i wouldnt have enough time to finish him off if they all come running.
Reluctantly i switch off my scrambler and guns, recall my drones and head off. I did not get any kills, nor did i get the ore. I did however hold my own while outnumbered and had fun while at it, so the day is not all loss.

On a side note, i am currently looking for a fun corp that would allow me to engage in occasional pirating, ore stealing, empire warmongering and general mischief. I dont expect anyone providing me with ships or other goodies - all i want is a good company i can feel proud flying with. Im european, so the corp should have to be mostly euro.
