Pirates and Loggers

Logi3·

I never expected to fire off another story so soon after my first. But after a great VETO op, something happened in game that kind of pissed me off.

Now, we read on the forums or in local that pirates are dirty scum hell bent on ruining the game play off other players (I choose to kill for my T2 items instead of paying over the odds and fatting the wallets of already rich T2 BPO owners!). I dont want to say to much about the love hate. But i ask this question! What is worse? PIrate or a Logger (Someone who logs off to save there ship and pod)

Its late Saturday night and VETO are on the hunt. We have a good size fast gang which can deverstate a BS in seconds. So, myself up front scouting and trying to narrow people down and get a lock for the others to come in, is under pressure (Hell, if i cant scan and find targets im going to have 15 angry corp mates after my blood!). Its my job to find the targets.

So, i jump into a system (Cant remember the name) and i find a Hurricane on 360. I decided to warp to planet IX as the majority of the belts are off that planet. But, to my amazement the hurricane warps to me! Guess he was hunting, seen local and got to a planet quick!

So, on goes the MWD, orbit at 20km and fire up the Warp Disrupter and Tracking Disrupter which is quickly followed by me informing the ravaging mouth foaming gang mates of my position. He's firing back and im a bit nervous. I've not long trained Cal Frig 5 after wanting to fly a crow for 6 months ;)

So, the boys are in and we noticed his ships stopped and guns stopped..... Hes logged. But no worries, we know his agroed and doom. Pop goes his ship but his pod insta warps out as the FC give the order to get points on the pod for a ransom (We wasnt 100% sure he logged). But, that was not to be...

Few more jumps on, im scouting up ahead and a Outlaw Mrym jumps into me, and warps to the next gate. Again, i inform the boys of the incomming and they get there positions sorted ready for the kill.

He comes out of cloak and a corp mates said "He's logged" so we get points, open up and fire and proceed to bump it. He has about 30% structure when it simply disaperes and nothing on Scan.

What crap is that? CCP provided mods and ways to avoid being locked down. Ok, sometimes its tough luck and there simply too many points on you and your stabs are nulled. But, why log? To me its a great shame and its one that i have done myself many time ago, before logging was a big issue.

Back when m0o used to camp PF- and i was in the fountain allaince. I jumped into a m0o camp and logged...

Got back on and have a mail from Strav0s telling of his disgust. At this point, i thought i would never log again and take it like a man if i was to be caught again. Years on, i can honestly say i have not logged to save my ship or pod...

Yes the old logoffski, had a guy i knew do that once while sitting across the f=romm from me. I damn near walked over and slapped the hell out of him. Logging is in no way sporting, I myself am an active rp'er and I dont think that logging is a part of tactical warfare, so I dont do it, and ill never do it. I logged once during a fight and that was only because i was lagging so bad I saw my ship orbiting the intie i was firing on, while I was reading the killmail of him killing me right then and there. With my pod a couple seconds later, and I was still orbiting him. Though half my modules dissapered at some point.

it is not a shame for that guy to log out it is a shame that you are attacking one person by a whole gang this is not called pvp this is f###n pvgang. If you got some honor fight person on one on one then you got the right to come here and whine about logging off

Logi3·

Veteran, could you come up with a mroe crap reply? Not to start a flame war or anything but... Our gang comming across him was just tough luck.

You can see our gang comming via map, which CCP provide. He seen me and others in the system, yet still went through the gate. Didnt he think "Oh wait, there could be a VETO gang comming"

Now, how are we lame? What is lame about a gang? We are using whats given to us by CCP. Why didnt have stabs on, or a scout? If hes a retard and decides to travel as an outlaw in a slow warping ship. He deserves to die.

VETO has a rule, no 1 v 1 as 99% of the time, the other person warps friends in to gank. We were going to ransom the pod, if he paid he could go free.

Veteran, eve pvp starts the moment you undock, not when you are first locked or engaged, by that time the outcome of the fight, 90% of the time, is already decided. I have no doubt the VETO. members have been killed 15 vs 1 countless times, this is the way of pvp in eve. Plus there's a sign on the door to low sec that says 'you will receive no CONCORD protection', if you continue on then face the consequences if you do get caught out.

:( ahh poor guy. Your 15 man roaming gang that "can deverstate a BS in seconds" lost a kill and a pod.

The tears are truly flowing for this great tragedy.

On a side note I don't approve of log tactics...but can say I was in a great fight 1 vs 1 and the fight could of gone either way when Eve decided to reset. I too was accused of logging. So came back and continued the fight afterwards. Why could I do this...because the guy I was fighting could trust it was just me and not a 15 man gang vs him :)

On the whole I disagree with logging off, however I also disagree with 'blobbing' for the most part, although sometimes it is nescessary.

I'm a pirate too but cry me a fuckin river...

Its not the fact that we lost it. Yes, we got annoyed but thats not the point. Its a shame to see that someone can just exit the game and there free.

It happens often to us, so you can understand we can get annoyed at times. But my original story was not about that.

Shooting ships to get T2 mods because you don't want to be "fatting" the BPO owners' wallets is wooly thinking. You assume the pilots of those ships are going to forever buy only T1 mods now that you've killed them? Whether it's you kitting a ship with T2's or him, someone's getting paid.

BTW, would using a spell checker kill you? And you might want to ask a native English speaker where the apostrophe key is...

Some argue that you don't even have to be undocked to PvP. Undercutting someone on the market, or setting up a scam, could also be considered pvp :P

TBH its all to common for massive gangs to rape anyone they meet, theres no laughs in that, every time i think about engaging someone thses days im usually wary of the gang waiting on the other side of the gate. Perhaps if you go out on yer own or maybe just 2 or 3 of you you might get some actual fights rather than cheap ganks. Incidentally ive never logged no matter what the odds, (have though about it on a few occasions though) and have seen some of my nice expensive stuff get pretty much vapourised in seconds.

Klaus Lehmann·

Instead of flaming, how about some constructive criticism. As to everyone who's crying that logging isn't that big of a deal, it isn't but your not showing very much skill or resolve (Your a farce if you do in my opinion). If your in a PVP fitted ship your obviously out looking for a fight so just don't make stupid mistakes and you won't end up in the clone vat. Regardless if your blobbed or fighting a gang (I prefer solo flying myself) stay and fight, who knows you might be surprised with the results. Have fun with Veto Logi3 ;)

P.S. Please don't make an argument stating the value of a ship, the moment you undock your ship has already been destroyed. Fly what you can afford to lose and take every loss with a grain of salt.

Personally, I hate it when someone logs off. However, I also hate gatecamps. All's fair in love and war they say, I suppose things balance out.

By the way, the guys that are complaining that logging is a perfectly legitimate tactic, you suck. You just do, and everyone knows it.

Klaus·

Do love when they log and manage to snag ship and pod though.

I have to agree with the OP. Logging off while cloaked needs to be fixed.

CCP fixed the ability for chumps to logoffski in a bubble, did they not?

Why can they not do the same for people who log whilst cloaked.

I don't like gate camps much myself, even when I am a part of them, they are rarely exciting for me. That being said, they are a completely valid tactic. You can overcome gate camps with a little effort. Well, really just with a decent/comparable amount of ships/skilled pilots. It's not insurmountable by any means.

Whereas logging off while cloaked has only 2 options of securing the kill. You either have to pop the ship within 60 seconds before it "poofs" into thin air, or you have to sit and wait for the pilot to log back in at some point.

Since CCP allows warp to 0km for gates, the least they could do is fix cloaked logging.

Klaus·

Friend asked that question, cloaking had more to do with protecting people with slow connections or those who disconnect whilst in jump or loading after jumping. Now I think if someone initiates an attack on you it should work the same way as the global countdown, just my two cents. (Any good stories coming soon Nexa?)

First of all i would like to say i am sorry for my first reply i was kind of angry that time. I totally agree with you guys that saying pvp starts the time you are undocked but as you say PVP. You are spending your time in this game to create a character and pvp is a kind of test arena for you to test yourself and your ship in everyway and to gain some experience and master your negative parts. But sadly pvp in eve is going in a bad way. Is there a need to sharpen your skills when you are in a gang of six waiting for a prey to come? No just lock and fire. Is there an importance of prey's skills again no. So why a person spent millions and his time on his character and ship waiting to enjoy a good match would like to be gang banged by 10 people and lost all his stuff in a second? I think CCP should create heavily ruled Deadspace Arenas for serious pvp.I think eve's fast population growth effects the pvp culture of the game. I am just missing old days. Thanks

Logi3·

Eve is pretty much blob wars. I sometimes take out an Ishkur or Arazu for solo killing. Not had much luck as i seem to keep comming across well skilled pilots flying passive drakes.

Even with good drones skills there tough!
