Hanging Up the Eye Patch

((My first half-baked attempt at an IC story. Let me know what ya think. :) ))

It's been some time since I've posted... too long perhaps. The yarrs and ransoms died a long time ago - it was time to move on. While I did burn some bridges back in Aunenen some months ago, my old corporation was happy to have me back, much to the apparent disapproval of several of Freelancer Alliance's members.

"So, what happened?" you might be wondering. Well, I left Murder-Death-Kill - the pirate corporation, a little over a month ago because well, quite frankly, I found myself falling behind. I had been away on personal business for a few days, which was becoming more and more frequent, and found that the outpost that MD-K's alliance had erected had been sold in my absence, and I was supposed to move all my belongings elsewhere. A week or so passed, and more personal matters came up to which I attended, and I came back to find that MD-K was on the move yet again.

I resigned my lowly position on account that I just wasn't able to keep up anymore. While contemplating my next move, I determined that what I needed was a nice and quiet 0.0 system with a friendly outpost nearby to earn some ISK by collecting bounties. I wanted to be stationary for a while, so I could attend to the issues that continued to arise in my personal life while still being able to partake in the going ons of the corporation I was a part of. I almost didn't ask my former CEO, but figured that the most that would become of it is that he would say no.

He didn't though, and before I knew it, I was back to where I was before I joined MD-K. There were several occasions where I was almost shot while traveling back to the old station, due to my security status triggering a red flashing background in most pilots' overview. Several times, I had to assure others that I hadn't stolen anything from them, as that also triggers the flag, and told them to simply check my security status with Concord.

After a while, we left FLA due to the way a lot of things were run, and returned to empire for a while to determine where our paths now lay.

Somewhere along the line, I decided that piracy wasn't worth it anymore. The drawbacks outweighed the benefits, and I was a little tired of being on the defensive all the time. There was talk in my corp about going mercenary, and to do that, we would inevitably need to wage war in empire, something I wouldn't be able to do because of my horrible security status.

I decided to take a break from corporate life and the politics that inevitably find their way into it. Speaking with a contact in DED, I worked out a deal that would allow me to raise my security status more quickly than I normally would have by killing pirates. I learned a few things about loopholes in the system and different conversational tactics to use from a book I picked up not too long ago called 'Fast Talk'. Afterward, I packed a Raven with as many missiles as it could carry, and left for an out-of-the-way 0.0 system to make good my end of the bargin.

It's now been weeks since I've been out of my pod. I haven't stepped foot on a station in so long, I find myself wondering if I would still be able to walk, or if my legs would buckle from atrophy. My Raven's crew has been getting restless, they need something new to do other than loading munitions and maintaining the shield hardners. Some of their contracts are up, and I've heard them wondering when they'll be able to get off the ship. Once, I was informed that there was a plan for a mass exodus using escape pods, and I was forced to jettison them all. I'm closer and closer to having a mutiny on my hands, but I'm also getting closer and closer to my goal.
