Corp pirates 101

Its been 3 days since we had seen a wartarget in active space. They have this horrible habbit of avoiding the fight by docking, I dont blame them it wasnt thier choice to fight us. Two days ago that all changed, with our fearless leader in his mini battleship setting 110km from station, a assault frig tackler to keep the targets from jumping out of the fight, and my humble drake setting 60km from station. We were all on group chat telling jokes when the hyperion logged on. Just two days ago the same hyp camped me and a corpies domi in a station just as we were doing to them, we on the other hand undocked. The assault frig was the pilot of the domi, that lasted a whole 40 seconds from dock to death, i was in my drake. The same drake that managed to disengage and hide from the last battle. We ready for combat when all the sudden we see a red star, its the hyp. Now setting 60km from station, we thought we had him. The POS locking system i have finally locked on the oversized ship when all the sudden i see range closing very fast, 60km...55km...50km... the entire time im slinging heavy missiles, hes outrunning our tackler aswell. He rushes my drake, exchanging close in fire. My drake withholding the barrage of fire gallantly, when he sees im not an easy kill he warps to a gate, then to a planet and back to the station to dock. This being my first PvP battle to the death, i was pumped! My drake withstood the best the hyp had to throw at me! So, here we are... RIGHT back where we were just 5 minutes before, all of us were ready for another fight.

We get back into our camp routine, boss is 110km from station... im 60km from station, the same assault frig was right at the undocking ramp. So, we have two targets camped in the station, a mega and a hype, we have a bs, bc, and a af, back in formation. Suddendly both targets undock, this we did not expect. Boss calls the mega as primary, i start slinging missiles as soon as the lock completes. All the sudden we get over the radio from our AF, "omg they are outrunning me'', we didnt worry... we figured our bs could hold up long enough to break the megas tank. The mega was a noob, and had setup her ship according to what the hyp asked. A full nos setup using drones for damage, the hype, was using 3 heavy nos, the glorious bs that we based our entire camp on, was gone in seconds of the two bs' getting in range. After i saw the boss explode, i decided it was time to try and leave, with the two ships 13km out i was scrammed in seconds, Aw crap i say... knowing im screwed i decided to put up a fight and leave the AF time to escape.

Needless to say, our first REAL engagement was a total disaster. With over a billion in losses, we pulled back to lick our wounds. War dec to ransom small corporations can have its rewards. But when you suffer losses, this takes a very long time to replace.
Rule #1 in war- never underestimate your enemy!
