First Wyvern killed in EVE

Ander·
Today at approximate 04:30, Davlin Lotze, of M. Pire lost his Wyvern in LXWN-W.
Ernest and I planned the attack for several days, and it went off without a hitch.
Thanks to Razor and all the Pandemic legion guy that came out.

P.S. CCP thanks for all the de-sync's...
Oh and I was there :) I even got on the killmail. An op had been planned several days in advance. We had spotted a lone wyvern pilot ganking people who traveled through some systems. What seemed odd was that he did it carelessly without any support. As our fleet assembled our scouts were sent out in advance. A support ship were trailing behind a few jumps after and our capital ship fleet stood on standby. Our intel was starting to return from our scouts that told us he had been in one system but departed already. Our scouts kept moving towards the wyvern-pilots alliance homesystem. Bingo. A couple of jumps later and our scout had found him. He was in local, but the ship wasnt on scan. He had cloaked, probably by a friendly POS of his. How were we to get a fight with him? The answer: Using Bait. It was 0.0-fishing. We sent in our dominix, a heavily tanked ship that was supposed to lure him out and his friends. Some of his buddies tried to attack but were easily dispatched. A couple of minutes passed without action. Our dominix warped back and forth between station and gate. We sent in one of our dictors to try and get some fight out of anything on scans. Our bait started warping towards the gate where our dictor-pilot came in from. Thats when our bait pilot noticed that he was back on scan. Infact he was warping in on the same gate as our bait was just coming out of warp on. Coms went off, our commander telling the dictor to put up bubbles all over. "Get in there!" he ordered the rest of the dictors. Our bait ship was fitted with a cyno-generator. He was still out of range and had to slowboat towards the mothership Wyvern. A mothership such as that one with multiple billion isk of assets tied up just to produce it. It's fitting worth several billions more. It was like the holy grail to us, and it was ours to take. More and more of our support ships arrived and bubbled the wyvern multiple times. He was not going to get out. Finaly our bait and cynoship pilot was in range. The cyno went up and our capital ship fleet jumped in. It was me in my carrier and several others mixed between carriers and dreadnaughts. Even though the Wyvern hadn't been ready for our massive setup. Not expecting a single dominix to be a bait which would could lead to his demise and eventually would. The dictors were careful not to be hit by the wyverns smartbombs or the drones he sent after them. The wyvern isn't just any pushover a few ships can kill. The fleet commanders ordered our dreadnaughts to go into seige. I sent my fighters out even though it could be risky. Considering that smartbombs which are lethal to fighters are pretty much standard modules for a mothership I was going to watch my drones carefully. I wasn't wrong with my prediction, it had smartbombs and I had to carefully micromanage my 200million isk fighters out in space . His shield was slowly going down. Local was rather laggy and our capital ship pilots had to relog several times. A few of his allies from MPIRE and FATAL jumped into system to try and help, but they were badly outnumbered. It wasn't their primetime and none of their capitalship pilots were ready to aid. They withdrew quickly from the fight. Slowly... slowly or attack ate away at the wyvern. Our voice comms started to get loud again. "He's going down, he's almost through armor!" And the final minute finaly passed as his hull was breached. Cheers broke out in local as the ship exploded in a flash which could be described as a small nova explosion. And then there was silence... We had won, the first Wyvern had been killed by Pandemic Legion aided by Razor alliance. The pendulum wars have still just begun... But I will be there on the battlefield to see the outcome of this war. Link to killmail

Jez, please stop this melodramatic style. Please. How many times do I have to read the "it has just begun". The war rages for almost a half year now..

Good writeup besides this and nice kill. :)

Congrats on the really awesome kill!

The "melodramatic" ending is a play on the way SirMolle writes his announcments. :) If you dont like that part then dont read it.

awesome kill...exciting to read about a beast like this going down...can't believe the guy took the domi bait though (would have been kind of overkill on his part).

akat·

Props on the kill. He was always cocky with that mom and it was bound to die sooner or later.

NICE KILL

Wish I could've been there, but I quit EvE several months ago...

Still keep checking up on Razor though, since that's what I was a part of.

Awesome job everyone! Very jealous :)

from what ive seen quite a few of fatal and others seem to think that he kinda deserved it due to repetative solo ganking in a MS. Its nice to see honesty from some enemy pilots rather than the usual excuses. Although i did read a few of those as well.

I must agree with them a nice kill.
