I was flying around bored in my Hawk, ratting and basically looking for something to interest me. I decided to explore some systems around where my corp. used to hang out, just to see what I could see.
I was in a low sec system with a few people in it and these 3 guys were talking in local. It was pretty obvious that is was an “experienced” player teaching some noobs the ropes. They were all in the same corp., the corp. bio said they were a merc group and were looking to recruit pvp players. Two were very new, only a 2 months old or so, and the “experienced” guy was the corp. CEO, who was several months old, but younger than I was. I scanned them more out of curiosity than anything else. The young two were both in destroyers, one was a cormorant, the other was a thrasher. The CEO was in a drake.

After listening to them go on about how to fight, the CEO said, “Ok, that’s enough, I’m bored, let’s go find a player to kill.” They warped to a station and refit, I assumed. A few minutes later they undock and warped to a belt. I was looking for a fight, but this really seemed to be more than I could handle. Might be a bit much for me to take in my little Hawk.

Screw it. I warped to 0 on the belt they were in. As I dropped out of warp, the leader said “Kill him.” And they all started to lock me. I targeted them all, orbited the drake at 18 and got my scram and launchers going on him. It took about 4 seconds to realize that I couldn’t touch a drake, so I switched to the cormy. He popped rather quickly. Start on the thrasher.

Now I did a quick status check on myself. My shields were holding fine, with the occasional boost to get them up again. Cap was fine, it was recharging enough between boosts and handling the AB and scram just fine. Okay, this is going well, I thought I would be toast by now.

Pop goes the thrasher. Drake warps off. I target the pod and get him. I don’t really want the security hit from the pod, maybe I can ransom him. I hold him there while I loot his wreck, wondering what was going through their heads since their CEO just left them and ran from a Hawk.

Just as I was about to pop the pod just to get rid of it, the drake warps back, lands 12k from me. I target and scram and start firing. The pod warps off, hmm did he come back to save his buddy? Well that’s something at least. After a few minutes of circling his ship, I knew this was going nowhere fast. I couldn’t break him, and he couldn’t hit me hard enough. He never released drones, not sure why. I turned off the scram but kept shooting. He finally convo’s me and says “So, this isn’t getting anywhere, want to call a truce?” I told him “You’re not scrammed, you can leave whenever you like.” He LOL’ed and warped off.

They spent the next few minutes asking me for money for cruisers to replace their destroyers, since the CEO had promised them they were safe with him in low sec, and that if they got popped, he would reimburse them.

He didn’t have the cash apparently.

That must have been a fairly embarassing moment for the CEO. Nice read, a bit short :)

Nice story - that CEO needs to read up more PvP basics as well as have some cash to back up his corp mates.

I look forward to reading more.

LOL a nice, refreshing read.
Something with a STORY, for a change.
nice :)

IF he's like me he didn't have drone skills until AFTER he has a damn good drake tank hell i didn't get them until after a moment like that in a lvl 3 mission during a mexican stand off with a ngel AF

Basic drone skills are an absolute necessity. Even a few scout drones would probably have been enough for the drake to win. Buying a battlecruiser without using any drones at all? Just plain dumb. It's a shame you couldn't break his tank. If he couldn't replace a few destroyers, the smacktalk would have been entertaining from losing a drake. Good story, and nice cajones for taking on that many opponents at once.

LOL, I think the CEO should sell the damn Drake to compensate for his mates destroyers and buy a Caracal for himself and practise a little and then buy some droneskillbooks to read.
