Well I new to writing these things, but I thought I'd give it a go.
I sat bored inside my trusty Incursus, the war targets wern't online, or were docked. The miners wern't biting either. They'd rather surrender their ore to my shiny jetcan than to fight off my Frigate. It seemed apparent that I'd have to downgrade from the Incursus to something less capable if anyone was going to fight me. I pondered for a minute, and looked towards the Imicus, hm... That's certainly not regarded as a combat ship, and more of a newbies miner, I grinned, but something caught my eye in my hanger. The Iteron III class hauler had only been used by me hauling cap charge 800's around, it could do with a little make over!

I quickly moved through my labeled cargo containers. picking out and noting a couple of modules I liked. Small Neutron Blaster II, Small Energy Neutraliser II, Fleeting Web, 24km Disrupt, Passive targeter, 2 400mm rolled tungsten plates, and a Damage control II were fitted to my ship by Scotty's manager. I wasn't sure it was the best battle hauler, the Badger II class industrial ship probably has that niche covered, but it was worth a shot. Smiling, I grabbed a small load of Null & Void s and hit the launch button, my killing machine was pushed out into space.
I checked the Alentene belts 1 by 1, the only jetcan miner was a Navitas, although I'd doubt he would fight me, I bookmarked the can anyway, saving it for later if there was nothing good in Scolluzer and the surronding systems. Scolluzer also turned out disappointing, so I reared for Gisleres. I've always loved this system, it has 20 odd belts, so you're always going to find a miner here most of the time, you have to be patient with the scanner though, unless you want to search through 28 odd belts, which in something hauler sized is a nightmare. I changed the overview settings on my ship, belts, cans and ships that wern't shuttle class or rookie class. No belts were in range from the scolluzer gate, so I warped to the first belt and whacked my scanner. To my delight, two named cans and a Osprey class cruiser was narrowed down to Belt II - 1.
I landed, hit approach onto one of the cans, and right clicked the player, a one month in an Osprey. The industrial took it's sweet time travelling the 15km distance between the warp in point and his jettisoned ore, so I entertained myself in the mean time by reading the pilots bio. Something caught my eye, I grinned, almost chuckling. This would be good.
*** **** is freelancing in the moment and explores the universe. And he hates can-thiefs. Especially those, which steal from noobs. My battle hardened industrial had finally made the distance, I put the passive targeter on, and locked the osprey, seconds before scooping his ore and placing it in my wide cargo bay. A few second later, the Osprey had launched 4 hornet I's, and had commanded them to pierce my hull. Warp disrupt online, Webifier online, neutralizer online. My neutron blaster II filled with Void fired at the Osprey, his shield were going down quickly, no shield tank :). My shields were already gone, but I expected it as I didn't have any shield modules or hardeners attached. My 4,000 hitpoints of armor was going to give me a very nice buffer, and his shields had already melted by the void smashing into his ship. It swung around, aiming for a station, but it was already over, my point and web would insure that there was no escape for him. I hit 50% armor as his Osprey exploded into a wreck. Concord sent me a mail explaining what had been destroyed. 2007.11.19 15:53 Victim: *** **** Alliance: NONE Corp: Center for Advanced Studies Destroyed: Osprey System: Gisleres Security: 0.8 Involved parties: Name: Suitonia (laid the final blow) Security: -1.3 Alliance: NONE Corp: interimo Ship: Iteron Mark III Weapon: Light Neutron Blaster II Destroyed items: Survey Scanner I Miner II Miner II I claimed my prizes, a miner II and two mining upgrades, giggling like a madman. I watched as the capsule warped away. I bookmarked his wreck, and warped to the Roden station to repair my armor. A quick confirmation of payment, and scotty repaired my damaged hauler very quickly with excellent efficiency. I gave the order to launch again and was back outside in space. My hauler turned and reactivated it's warpdrive to go back to the wreck of the Osprey. As soon as I landed I aligned myself to the Scolluzer gate, not knowing whether or not my victim would return in a more pvp capable ship. A few second later a Thorax was sitting next to me 5km away. Thank god I aligned, I gave the order to warp and my ship launched itself towards the Scolluzer gate. I had an Ishkur docked in Alentene which should be good enough, I've had some close fights in the Ishkur against Thorax's, but this person was only one month old, was into mining, and had another racial cruiser trained so he couldn't be that good. A few moments later and I was back in Gisleres at the Osprey wreck in my Assault ship, the Thorax still there, it approached me showing it's hostility and launched 3 Vespa and 1 Hornet drone. It had blasters attached, although t1, and small blaster at that, although I made sure to keep out of webbing range. My 125mm railgun II's loaded with Federation Navy Lead, open fired, and 3x Acolyte II and 2x Hammerhead II came racing out of my drone bay. Crap... I left those in there from when I busted that Angel Cartel missioning Drake the otherday. Oh well, they should be sufficient. It took awhile, I'd instructed my Acolytes to destroy his Vespa drones, while my rails and hammerheads got to work on the Thorax itself. Chunks of armor being ripped of the Thorax, and the final Vespa has met it's demise. A conversation invite popped up, and the pilot asked how much for his release. "3 mil" I demanded, I knew the Cruiser was worth more but I hadn't had a successful ransom in a long time, and knew that it was probably worth more than the modules his ship would drop, and still be in the new guy's price range. I took the drones back into my bay to show that I would let him go for a price, but kept my railgun's firing at his structure to show him I'm not playing games. My wallet flashed, and a quick check showed I had recieved the 3mil, I deactivated the railguns, and 24km disrupt. And warped back to Scolluzer, smiling, thinking of the next encounters I would have in my Battle Iteron III.

Nice, although it was rather young char getting you assraped.
Still, his cheekiness costed him an osprey :)

I used to love Gisleres, you can always get a good fight there.
Also for Battle-indy, try the Sigil, with active armor tank.
2k of armor, over 60% resists and a SAR II. :)

the thing is... the beginner missions always have badly fit ships so ppl pwn those 50 or so at a time and think they're awesome player so they get cheeky until a pirate puts them back in their place
